Lookin good man i need to do this with my car but theres no way.. Im tryin to get it on the road for the summer..I still gotta buy a house lol....

Looking good:biggrin: i just wish that i was that far along on mine. had some obsticals that stopped my progress but gitting ready for an 87 to show up. going to put that back together first to drive then i will finish the other one up.
Glad to see that you did not give up.

Hang on to it and do a little at a time. My head gasket was shot as well... and it took about a year and a half to save $ to get it fixed, Im just now getting to the interior. Its been well worth it.... if you sell it, you will regret it later. And once its done, you will appreciate it that much more.
:-)

What kind of bar is that on the rear Mike? Looks like you took the plunge and are doing a nice job with her.

I pulled it off of a late 90's 2 door, 4WD S10 Blazer. I got some 4.5" long endlinks from Autozone, drilled a couple holes in the rear frame braces, and bolted them in. Should work out good.

Shaping up really nice......glad ya stayed with it......

You have way more patience than I do....lol

Looking good. Keep up the good work.

Bill

She's looking good Mike, your efforts will be more than worth it, along with that new found pounding in your chest..it's called PRIDE, can't get that any other way.
Keep us posted, great work.

Kevin

I'm definitely proud of myself for going through this. I can't wait to fire it up again one day.

I am overwhelmed and mine runs!..

I pray nothing goes wrong as I can't handle the expense of fixing it.

It is a love hate affair with me. I got rid of the GN and made good money because people were buying back 5 years ago. Now I have a Limited and I swear they are TABOO, Nobody wants them or likes em. :frown:

Sorry about the double post. Looks like the board was acting weird last night.

Would you mine taking a few more pics of hte way you mounted the bar Mike? I've been telling people it would work but I haven't had time to fit the one I have right now. Cars still under construction.

This thread is me also. I've read it several times before, just never posted in it. I had the life changing experience of having an 18 wheeler squash me in my 86 GN and having our 1st child 4 days later. I haven't really touched any of my cars since then (Nov 03). Just kinda of piddled around with the totaled 86 stripping parts off of it. Daughter #2 came along and there were other things to worry about, not a bunch of cars. But, I've never considered selling any of the GN's off.

My wife and a couple of friends have telling me the same thing for years. Just get the one with the dead motor/trans running and enjoy driving a GN again. I was really looking forward for Nats this year. Kinda had my Buick fire re-kindled, but it's not the raging infernio it was years ago. But, I have started working on the street car. Going to do the simple thing and put the complete 86 GN drivetrain in it just to get a car running again. Then I can address the small issues as I go along.

Mike, thanks for the inspiration. A little progress goes a long way.
John
