Failed first time - oil seal in turbo center section leaking HC 683 ppm
Failed second time - rebuilt turbo, but still failed with 383 ppm. car at 160°.
Passed third time - 1 bottle of heet (yellow bottle), about 6 gallons 92 octane, and I pulled the power on the radiator fan until the engine got to 200°. 211ppm (passing was 220ppm).

I am thinking Oregon is too cold for a 160 degree t-stat. I might go to a 180° since the oil viscosity was much better around 180 to 190...I have a rebuilt engine with tight bearing clearances and my oil pressure sits at around 30 psi idle, but it dropped down to around 22 to 25 psi at 190.

I am guessing the combonation of HEET and hotter engine temp were the key factors.

I'm in Warren, Oregon and I run a 180* in the winter and a 160* in the summer. Fortunately, I don't have to go through DEQ :D

The 180 thermostat sounds like a good idea, I think I will switch to 180 for the winter also.
