As everyone knows I'm laid up for about 8 weeks with my hip replacement . Soooooo today my wife comes home early from work and is going to be out on workmans comp for at least 6 weeks with a reoccurring back injury. We are both electricians at GM and they will not let her work with any restrictions such as lifting , bending ,twisting. Now I have to share my rehab time too. At least we are use to it , we've been working together for the past 21 yrs.

Just think of this as a trial retirement Sam. If you don't get on each others nerves at this point the 2 of you should be fine when you retire.

She has already been talking about retiring when she starts to draw her Valeo pension in 2014. I told her she has to turn 50 aleast.

No couch Rugby and you should both be ok:p

With her dessed in that Kevlar potato sack with feet and me trying to run her down in my walker ...... nothing is going to happen. But thanks for the thought ! Sam

I can feel both your pain. I've been fighting lower back issues for 8 yrs or so and now at home recouperating from another angiogram and bad news from the doc. My wife and I worked side by side many times at Boeing for 6 years. Now we are 1/2 mile apart (she's inside the 98 acre factory, and I'm out on the Flightline) and two different shifts (which sucks by the way) I work 100 yrds from my 24 yr. old daughter and my wife works in the same shop as our 26 yr old son. (he's a mechanic and she's an inspector) Can you imagine the conversations when we are all together? Yep.........Boeing. Nice place to work, though. (though not perfect by any means.)

My wife and I met during our apprenticeship. We were both asked to go to 3rd shift (overnite) and worked side by side for many years be it construction or maintenence. At one point our benches even faced each other. We have been so close for so long (21yrs.) it's just doesn't seem right when she's not around . :) Sam

Boy after rereading this post I might have to save it incase I screw up.;)

Had a hip replaced last August (ceramic hip). Was mobile in a week on my own in two and back to work in 4. Are you having issues or just sandbagging it? LOL!

My wife and I run our business together. We get along pretty well and I like/love her company. We actually only argue about cars I buy and sell and she has not gotten over it in the 21 years we've been married. Hopefully she will eventually. She knew that going in though.

With your hip did they replace ball & socket cause 4 weeks for a full recovery seems pretty quick, but that depends on your job. I'm hitting 2 weeks on tuesday and I'm on my own now , but to be back to work in 2 more weeks with no retrictions to movement a lifting from the doctor won't happen and without his ok I'm home.:) My job covers a 2 million sq ft plant and thats a lot of 3 wheeled bike riding & walking with lots of tools, so when I go back I have to be 100%. I hear ya on the arguement thing , I NEED toys , my buick , guns and tools and all goodies that go with them , and sometimes we don't see eye to eye.;) Good luck with your hip I hope it works out as good as my first one has .:) Sam
