Used Meguiars clay bar system, 2 coats of Meguiars stratch x swirl mark remover and 2 coats of Meguairs cleaner wax. Pretty satisfied with the results. Most of the paint on the car is original, its had a few areas sprayed. Thought I'd share some pics.

Very nice for original paint! I'd pull the bodyside molding off for a cleaner look.

That's a lot of work (I know, I've done that before) but you got awsome results!

Its still dull. If you want it to really shine start with an agressive clay bar (purple bar by Car Brite) then use some Phase Glaze with a high speed polisher along with a green medium cut pad turn it around 1000rpm's. Then go back with a Final Finish #5 to put the depth/gloss into it which is mostly for black cars but I use it on all colors. Last use a paint sealer of some type I use Resistall. This will keep any acid rain, bird $hit, bugs etc etc from ever penetrating the clear coat breaking it down. If you have any nicks on the car go buy a Uniball vision fine pen thats water/fade proof and fill in those spots to make it look perfect.

I stay away from Meguiars and Mothers b/c they arent aggressive enough products.

I can post a pic of my car on here to show you what it looks like when its done. The difference is like night and day.

I did that on my last car, and the paint under the molding was really different looking than the rest of the car.........

I probably should have posted this thread in another forum because my car is not a show car, if that's what you mean. I thought it looked pretty good for original paint and I just wanted to share that.

smokinttype, yeah its still a little dull I guess. How bout you drive down and do that to my car for me. I would love to do that but I'm not sure about using a buffer. I'm afraid I'll do more damage than good. Are those things hard to use and should you practice on something before using it on your car? Is that factory paint on those cars?

There is a whole bounch of car detailing videos on YouTube. He is a basic one. YouTube - How to Detail your Car : Auto Detailing Tips : How to Wax your Car when Detailing : Car Detailing Tips

It's hard to scew paint up with an orbital. You won't burn thru the paint with an orbital. I would stay away from the more harsh cleaners with original paint tho. Zaino makes some quality products Zaino Store

Your car looks great IMO. Could it look better? Probably. Those YouTube videos are actually quite informative. The videos get into detail when some of the professional detailers chum in on some of their techniques.

Using a high-speed isnt for everybody. It can burn the paint down pretty fast. I remember the first time I used one. I burned right through the clear coat. I think it took about 4 seconds to do. The keys to using a high-speed are, stay away from the edges, keep the wheel moving staying away from one spot and keep polish on the car so that it doesnt build heat as fast.

The best products I have used.
Polish: Phase Glaze (Car Brite)
Cutting compound: Xtra cut (3M)
Wax: Ardex
Final finish: No. 5 (Carbrite)
Paint sealer: Resistall (Resistall)

I work at Lexus and those are the products we use on every car.

Zaino looks like good stuff its just a little pricey. I wouldnt pay that much for such a small amount of product.

cool

hey, gn87turbo..... Looks great. I also have an original paint car, no clearcoat, and I will do it like you did no problem. But I am interested in the results not if I came up with the way to do it...... I havent seen a better shine from a original paint car......good job!
