I think this thread was directed to the moderators or the operator of this website. I am surprised that no one in charge has chimed in. It is obvious that many members have issues with Ebay and other undesirable areas clog the flow of information. If it cannot be changed, let us know !!!

Sorry guys, but I am going to reverse the changes that were made by me. I went about it in the incorrect manner, and in doing so may be inadvertently doing the board and it's members more harm than good.

I sincerely apologize for this oversight on my part.

Ya know, I'm sure you are busy with the finishing touches on the board change over, but this was uncalled for. I sat on this all night so I didn't answer with anger, but I find that it still bothers me to see someone who is running this board respond like this to a request to make the board better.

It really is not a petty request to just want someone to acknowledge the question. A simple "we're working on it" would have sufficed for most people. Especially at the end of that post the member even said to just "let us know" if things couldn't be changed. I'm sure you are irritated that some people are pretty ungrateful for, but not everyone is jumping down your throat about it.

Go ahead and answer it however you want and yes, I do get upset at the demanding and inconsiderate people here because I work my ass off here for zero appreciation and get nothing but constant bitching and complaining. Nothing is ever good enough for anyone here, all they want to do is bitch and demand more. I guess its a sign of the times we live in. Its the "Its all about me" generation.

When I get around to this, Ill get around to it. There are more pressing issues I have to deal with right now.

Let me lay it out for you.

The Ebay forum makes us some money. Do you have ANY idea the amount of money it takes to run this forum every month at NO cost to you? So yea, sorry you have to see an ad or two and the Ebay stuff is annoying but I dont know any other way to cover the cost of this forum. Should we just start charging everyone $10 a month to use it? Im really open to suggestions. The amount of man hours I spend here every month doing backups, upgrading scripts, etc doesnt even factor into the physical costs. There is a reason this forum is hardly ever down and everytime you type in www.turbobuick.com, things just work.

It gets a little old seeing people constantly complaining about something theyre getting for free, especially given its not free to us. When I sit down here working on this board instead of spending time with my family, you think thats a trade off I really want to make with all the bitching that goes on here about EVERYTHING? "Yea, let me spend another 2 hours working on this board tonight because everyone will be so appreciative of my efforts tomorrow."

Nope.. tomorrow everyone will just complain that whatever mod I upgraded doesnt do what they wanted or should do something else or it sucks and should be removed all together.

Theres no making anyone here happy. Im not real sure why I even try other than out of loyalty to Shane. Should we just let things go back to how they were with the last administration? Software never gets updated, stuff stays broken, about half the stuff works and the staff doesnt give a crap, just stands there with their hand out for the advertiser money?

And before people start screaming about how we're getting rich off this stuff, the Ebay ads have made a whole $62 for September. Yea, we're raking it in. We've made 1/10th the hosting cost this month.

I feel no need to reply to you in PM because I have been responding to your posts as an adult. If you want to respond like a child to a simple request that is your business. That was all you got because that is really all you gave. Complain about people complaining. Ironic.

Are you unappreciated? I am certain you are. However, when a simple request ends up getting a snide remark from you, maybe you should start thinking twice before you post. And if you read my post with clarity of mind, you would realize that you could have just said 'ya know what, this guy has a point' and done one of two things; 1) say so in a post 2) ignore it. Instead you choose the low road and are acting like a kid that got called out at first base and now you want to take your ball and go home.

A simple Ebay ad? Try 3 pages of posts from the Ebay section. Does the board need it to raise funds? I'm sure. But why aren't there other options? Why do you not have a 'donation' section where if you donate you get a month of no ads (or something like that). Why aren't there paid membership levels that do the same thing? Month long and lifetime? Might not be the easiest thing to do, but I KNOW it can be done. All of these are viable options and are NOT new ideas. Yet we don't see them. Instead we get someone that takes a request for a response as a personal insult about their work ethic or however you are viewing it.

I don't think you are getting rich. I have helped fund another board (volusiariders.com) and I know it gets expensive. Then you want to point out how bad it was under the last managment (which I would not know, wasn't here.), well, that was then. This is now. YOU are in charge of how this experience goes for everyone. INCLUDING YOURSELF. Don't like the complaining? Ignore it. Just please don't ignore a valid request. I am not saying you HAVE to give us the ablitiy to block sub-forums, but acknowledgement would be nice.

I agree with WH1 regarding donations. I recognized this car that we all share a love for has a very limited following. I am so grateful for the information and camaraderie that comes from the technical forums here. Not to mention all that, but this is my most frequented website (including porn sites ) just because I enjoy being here and being part of an exculsive group. I would be more than happy to donate to help the dying cause. Better than selling my Buick or letting it die into obscurity.....

P.S.: Ignore my location, just because I'm an American living in a foreign country doesn't mean I don't still love my TR and the community that supports it.

I'd be willing to pay $5 a month. Or maybe $10 a month if done by month by month basis, and $5 a month if you pay a whole year in advance..but you see, that would be part of the whole paid memberships to keep it free for everyone else! Special privilage for those that pay...ads for those that don't. Simple.
