For those that might know Todd, he's the guy that cooked the great steaks at the Fontana Raceway, last time Nordy ran a 9.65 . His yellow 67 Mustang fastback GTA is in my garage. I've known him for about fifteen years. He's worked for me for the past ten. I'll try and post a picture of him.
How Todd got to this critical condition is kind of a long story. I'll try and keep it simple. After a lifetime of heavy drinking, at age 45, Todd went into a detox / rehab center (on his own) to kick the booze. He had been clean and sober for about six weeks, when on Feb 18th of this year he had a very bad (tib/fib) leg break while sking the fresh powder up at Mt. Baldy with myself and one other employee. This leg break, by it self, wasn't life threatening. However, The three leg surgerys and all the meds were more than his weak liver could handle. I guess it was the straw that broke the camels back. Let me tell you. Liver failure is a very ugly thing. It causes many other organs to fail or start bleading. At one point, he was bleading out of just about everywhere, faster then they could get blood in him. He went through over 50 units of blood in his worst day. I was told by a nurse that in the three years that she had been in ICU, that this was the "new record" of loosing blood and surviving. Somehow, after two and a half weeks in a coma, and about a dozen surgurys, Todd was woke up. It's now been a little over a week that he's been awake. Some days are better then others. If I tryed to tell you of just half the life saving procedures that he's had done, I'd be typeing all night. The doctors say that he needs a new liver, but is not eligible at this time. No one knows how this will turn out. were still just day to day.
Please, keep Todd and family in your prayers.
If you have a drinking problem, GET HELP! You DON'T want to go through this, or put your freinds and family through this.
If you find yourself near Hoag hospital in Newport Bch, stop in and give blood. They are very low right now.
