I'm swapping to a Hydroboost system into the GN. I'm not 100% if the PowerMaster Pedal is the same but if someone can verify I would appreciate it. Any help would be appreciated! -----Jeremy

I have a pedal and the firewall bracket!!

Jeremy,
I'm not so sure that the pedals are the same, and I know there's a special backet that bolts to the firewall to accept the powermaster unit. I have both of these parts from my conversion the other way on my 87 GN. Most of the vacuum brake conversion kits I have seen have included another pedal for the vacuum brake booster. Let me know if you need these parts, I'll make you a deal. PM or email me at 67L88Vette@comcast.net . I can send pix.
Sincerely,
John A, Turbohh

Are the vacuum mounting brackets for the pedal the same? I dont remember whether or not Ichanged those out from swapping from the PowerMaster to the vaccuum. -------Jeremy

Attached some pix!!

Jeremy,
The PM and Vacuum pedals both hang from the same pivot point in the pedal box inside the car under the dash and steering column. What is different, as you can see in the attached pix, is the bracket that bolts to the sfirewall that the PM attached too. The vacuum booster bolts to the firewall with four bolts, and the PM bracket has the four studs (pointed to the rear of the car) to mount it on the firewall where a boooster would have been, and two studs (pointed towards the front) that the PM bolts to, plus the special gasket that seals out the heat and moisture from the engine compartment. I looked at G-Body Parts pix of their vacuum conversion kit, and their vacuum pedal is similar, but has an extra hole in it that the PM one doesn't have. What I'm not sure about is if the PM pedal has the leverage as the vacuum pedal, that is, is the pin to pivot distance the same for the PM pedal and the vacuum pedal?? Anyway, you can see my pix and see if you're missing anything. HTH.
Sincerely,
John A, Turbohh

HMMM? Well here is a picture of the hydroboost. It seems to mount to same through the firewall but I still dont really know which pedal I need to use. I assume the powermaster is the same since people have replied that. The pivot point is what is important.

OK now BWEAVY thinks the vacuum pedal is the same for a HydroBoost. Hasnt anybody done this that can verify? I'm going to make a poll in the brakes section!!!

I did the Hydroboost conversion on mine and I was told to use the stock Powermaster pedal. It works great. The Vacuum pedal has a different pivot point. That is why you either have to drill the Powermaster pedal or use a vacuum specific one to convert to vacuum. When you buy a vacuum kit most will include a pedal for that reason. I installed a pretty expensive conversion, but everything bolted up to the stock Powermaster bracket with minimal grinding. I also used an aftermarket reservoir.

Looks really nice, I may have to ask you a few questions during my installation if you dont mind?

Been following your other thread in the Brakes section. Let me know if you still need a PM pedal, or more info on mine. That other install looks nice too, but it uses the PM bracket as well. Good luck with your conversion project.

Hey John, I found a pedal. Not sure if I need the bracket. It looks like the unit comes with one on there. I will keep you updated for sure and thank you for your support sir! -----Jeremy

I've got one but I plan to sell the vacuum kit as a whole. If it doesnt sell, I'll gladly send you this pedal.

I bought the kit from PowerbrakeBob Power Brake Services.com.
He is not a supporting vendor on the board.
Be warned. There has been plenty of controversy over his after sales service. Some are are really unhappy. I did find the reservoir needed some slight alterations to stop it from making noise and the supplied lines could have been better quality for the price. Other than that, the kit works great for me and haven't had any other problems so far.

If anyone happens to be looking for a hydroboost set up I happen to have one still in the car and works well. complete with pump, lines, booster and pedal. $200 plus shipping.
