Push rods are sticking through the rocker arm

How can detonation cause the push rods to go through the rocker arm? An engine can only detonate when both valves are closed. I think it was caused by high pressure roller cam springs.

With SEVERE detonation, the cylinder pressures are so high that the valves are being held shut with high pressure. If you look at a rocker arm on the exhaust side of a Top Fuel engine, you will see a rocker that is capable of having to open up aginat 2,000 psi of cylinder pressure when the exhaust valve opens. Like I posted earlier, I have seen BOTH push rods bend into an "S" on number three. Rocker geometry/spring rate is most likely the cuase here though, in retrospect.
