I'm looking to replace my stock turbo with a nice stock appearing ta turbo..I have a stock torque converter, I was thinking the ta-49 would be good, but I would like to go with percision.....Percision don't make ta-49's anymore. They said the TA-55 is like a new version of the ta-49 but with better wheel design and faster response etc... rated 560hp. Does anybody have this turbo, and can give me some feedback. It's also suppose to be a stock replacement turbo and stock appearing gn turbo and my adjustable wastegate should still fit. There pretty good people to deal with, and more updated in design.

I would talk with Bison, tell him your goals he will set you up!

I have a billet 59 with the Garrett .63 ex housing the billet 59 will spool faster than any journal turbo they have that will support anything close to my 59 billet and any ball bearing unless they use their really small turbine. This turbo will work with a stock converter and you will have a big smile every time you drive! P. S. this turbo replaced a Precision billet DBB turbo.

I forgot the important part, it is a stock appearing turbo! Current photo.

thx, for ur reply...the car looks great, engine looks stock, nice video pic. But I'm going to Precision for a new turbo, The one I want to get is the TA-55, I already talked to Precision, great to deal with. They have a dealer out in Canada, which helps me out with shipping. I'm upgrading from a stock turbo.....I just wanted to know if anyone used one yet, it comes with Buick style compressor housing/.63....stock appearing and up to date wheel design CEA. It seems to be like a new TA-49 but with better wheel design etc 560h/p...I can wait to pick it up, I'm still going to keep my stock turbo just in a box in the closet.

If you are not going to get a new converter, the Garret .63 housing is a much better hot side to use than the Precision .63. Your turbo choice is fine, spool up and response will suffer a bit thought if you bolt it on as is from Precision.

o.k so ur saying I'm better off with an old ta-49 with the stock core return/plus shipping/customs from kirban or limited eng or a rebuilt stock with better seals and bearings/plus shipping/customs..than Precision, it's almost the same money spend. Precision said the ta-55 is the smallest unit they have to offer and will work with a stock converter and minimize spool time and increase power and it looks buick stock. I would be using the RJC boost controller with this turbo. Also are u saying I should get rid of the elbow and put in a 3" downpipe for the turbo to breath better?

the garrett.63 is much smaller than the precision.63 ex housing don't let the numbers fool you.the garrett .63 will spool much faster due to the ex filling the smaller hole sooner.the downside to that is it makes more backpressure for the motor when your really trying to get the most out of the combo.most guys don't so the larger ex housing isn't needed.either way I think your overthinking it,either turbo's should be fun and make the same amount of power.im particular to the 49 with a garret on tnetics .63 only because I know it works.also if you really want crazy spool time you can have the 44 in ball bearing from turbonetics,580 horse and instaspool on a stock converter.

Thx for everybody's blueprints of experiences and replys, I still like the first pic. I have mild upgrades alotta fuel, if I want...With this turbo I'II have alotta of air..My guy says keep it safe 17psi.....looks like a good turbo(just keep it low) just want a modern stock appearing turbo.thx again fellas.Ta -55 looks and sounds alright.

Would you even see any increase at 17psi? I would go with alky and crank it up.

If all you are going to run is 17psi then I have a very nice stock turbo with polished cover for sale that will save you a lot of $$ and give you the same performance.

Thx for the offer and replying....But I would like to buy new or rebuild new with warrenty, No disrespect to bison...thx again guys. A rebuild with a spare core, so I keep my stock turbo in the car, 100 for the core/ball park 150 with shipping and customs fed-ex or ups by the time it gets to me/plus 800 for the ta-49=$1050 something like that.Or $1075 for a stock appearing ta-55 new from precison, and I would save bigtime on the shipping/customs because precision do have dealers in Canada about 5 hours away from where I live. My stock turbo is leaking oil into my intercooler and it's going into the throttle body, I just cleaned it last weekend, when I installed the rjc powerplate.

No disrespect taken. My prices are much lower than what you listed and I stand behind them for a year against assembly related defects. Also shipping to Canada is about $75. I won't post prices in the tech forum.

In many ways a rebuilt custom turbo can be better than any bought new. key word here is custom. Bison should have his own line of turbos. Ive never read a bad review on his stuff. Can't beat his prices either.
