Is it worth the expense, and trouble of getting one of these for the 200 4r?

When replaceing the plastic washer with a bearing(that must be .120 ? thicker) would the surfaces on the center support and direct drum be machined equally? And, does this make them weaker.

That is really the question: would it be stronger to keep the drum completely untouched.

Is there a difference I am not seeing between PTS and CK on the rollerized center support?

I've done some searching in the forum but, evidently not many have had done this or they just have not had problems with it.

Thanks in advance,
J.S.

Well it depends on who you talk to...

I haven't seen any of the plastic washers really fouled up on teardown. So IMo they must be getting the job done for the most part.
However GM did use a metal washer here in later applications so there must be some merit to needing an upgrade.

A thrust from a Th400 is a drop in... same thickness, i.d. and o.d., and tang location...

if you only machine the center support to gain the clearance required when retrofitting the bearing you can cut into the oil channels cast into the center support.the upgrades dont weaken anything and they reduce horsepower loss created and consumed during normal internal component rotation.
