Did you make two passes? Main thing is to use a good t-bar clamp and clamp it after the bead not right on it. For extra insurance use some hair spray on the insides of the hoses. Makes installing easier but then it really helps with holding the hose on when it dries.

That's fine. It doesn't have to be huge, just enough to make a stop for the Tbolt clamp
