I just got my car back (long story) and the turbo is shot to fahell! It blows oil out of the exhaust and the downpipe to turbo area. The shaft has plenty of play and has started eating away at the housing... I just wonder if anyone has had there turbonetics rebuilt or what suggestions anyone has? Is it sensible to re-build??? Is it just too expensive?

How old is it??? is it Ball Bearing? Have you talked to turbonetics for an estimate yet??

I am not sure how old it is? It is a couple years though, I do know that. Here are some pictures of it from when I first got it from Cottons. I called Cottons and got a wide-range estimate of 200-750??? I paid like 1200 for it though? Not sure if it is ball-bearing or not?

if it were me i would probably just rebuild it.... [if it was a ballbearing unit] ... saving possibly 500-1000 dollars from a replacement.... T66s are proven turbos and Turbonetic's Turbos are good/durable units. it would be expensive to just trash it..... When its all said and done after the rebuild and balance it will be like another brand new turbo anyway??? What is your dilemma? are you thinking of buying a different turbo or a different size? Did you like it while it was working??? can i ask................ what happened to it???

if its off the car you can verify whether or not its BB by looking up through the CHRA oil drainback hole and looking to see if there is one small hole.... if there is it should be a BB unit.....
