I have a 32-3400 stall @ 0psi single disk vig that i'm considering upgrading to a mulit disk lock up. Has anyone done this upgrade? Did your track times lower appreciably (lower et/higher trap speed) and approx what am I looking at to upgrade $$$$ wise?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a worthwhile upgrade or put it on the boards and start out with something more suited to my setup.

Thanks for looking guys.

What kind of power are you making?

What are your track times? The single disc is pretty stout. I wish they would use better material {carbon clutch} for the single disc, but the tan clutch they use isn't that bad. I've seen them take some power.

I think I paid $350 to do exactly what you asked. I haven't tracked the car yet but I am sure you will gain at least 2mph on the top end by locking it.

BlackPlague, no track times yet as I put the motor back together shortly before the tracks closed for the year around here.

Dr. Booster is that just the disk upgrade or is there a billet cover option/antiballoon?

Thanks for the response guys.

350 to upgrade gets you the new multi-disc billet cover and disc's from percision.

A good carbon clutch on the single disc VIG would make that one hell of a single disc lock up for all, but the most powerful {high 9's and lower}combo's.

All the Vig's / yank's that i've redone get the carbon clutch.

Does your 5 disk rattle or is it quiet? how long ago did you have it done

I bought this converter from a boardmember (JBanning) and I know he locked it a couple of times behind a mid 10 second 4.1. He had it rebuilt before selling and was told the clutch had mild glazing on it but in good shape from what I recall.

It'd be interesting to see the durability of a good carbon clutch vs the multi disk for a 10.5 and slower ride (my goal).

Ya the $350 was just for the 5 disc upgrade as it already had the billet cover since it was a single disc before.

My 5 disc does rattle, the funny thing is I had a thread about that because, well, it' pretty loud at idle, like a 5 year old chucking rocks at it. But I rarely hear it in gear at a light but it's embarrassing at idle. :(

With my Ta49 it wouldn't drive through it being locked at WOT, but when I go to a bigger turbo, maybe the newest PTE 70, I hope it can handle that beast locked at WOT.

Wonder how much to "downgrade", from 7 disc to 5? ;)
Very anoying when it's cold, shifting from park/neutral into gear kills the engine.
