Mine just went up $30 more a month, I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield..I'm 43, non-smoker with no health issues.$278 a month now...
What do you pay ?

For decent coverage, looking at 887 for me, wife, two kids with one more on the way.

insurance

My wife and I are both 23, no bad habits, and we pay over $500 a month, and here I thought teachers had good, affordable insurance.

I have had major medical insurance for 8 years at about 125 a month. 39 years old, single, non-smoker with no real health issues. The down side is it does not cover any thing below $5000. But if you don't get sick much it is worth it. Really came in handy 6 years ago when I broke my neck and the total bill for everything was like $120,000

Tennessee Farm Bureau, Tennessee Rural Health (BCBS) - 40 year old - Can not remember the details but it is just shy of $170 a month.

these figures between 2 and 300$ for a single person....
does this include prescription coverage as well??

I filled out a form on one of those insurance sites for quotes yesterday. I got 4 messages on my machine and 5 emails. Some were from far away and other were local agents. I will probably call a local guy first.

Didn't realize health insurance was so expensive for healthy young adults. Basically for $500 a month ones gets major medical benifits and that's about it. Otherwise, anything under $5k one has to pay. That must get expensive especially if you have kids.

That's why it's a major topic, it's f'n expensive!

My ins keeps going up to the tune of $1800 per month (was 1200), so I'm dumping them and going to something as good for $359, higher ded tho but 100% after ded is earned , healthy, no need for it, but if something were to happen I guess.

$5/wk before tax deduction  Was nothing till April. I still cant believe how may jack asses arent insured and still take vacations and burn a bunch of money. Guess they dont think its important. pisses me off because the insurance companies just punish the paying group.

Not that expensive when you consider that those who dont pay are most likely wasting way more than $5k/year on non necessities. A smoker will spend $2k/year or more just on cigs at only a pack/day. Not to mention the extra $ and risk spent driving out at 2am because they are out of cigs and are craving the nicotine. Eating out just once a week at $25/Wk is $1250. I dont even know what the average household CC debt is but id bet its over $5k. At 15+% thats over $800 in just interest:eek: . Driving 10mph slower will net several hundred a year less in expense. All of what i mentioned adds up to nothing in the end. Not a thing to show for what was spent. $5k really isnt chit but the American way is to burn it and live in debt. You certainly cant buy anything too nice with $5k.

I thank God that I have VA to fall back on.....my wife (of 3 years) is a different story. She was diagnosed 2 years ago with Rumatoid Arthritis. She was on my Insurance Policy at the time when I worked making Armored Vehicles for the Army. This company went out of business and I had a knee replacement at VA (big mistake). Anywho we can not find anyone that wants to accept my wife for Health Insurance, because of her "Pre-Existing Condition". I give her two shots a week, one of which costs $750.00 per shot (Humeria). We are getting this for free temporarily.........It sucks to say the least. An insurance company's (any type of insurance) job is to get your $$$ and to hold onto it at all costs! Something needs to be done about Health Care, as they obviously cater to the healthy...........all boils down to making that mighty $$$.
