My job closed.

I Have been creating my own job because I have been drowned out by unemployed people from bigger companies. I know a guy that works a a fairly large company and they had a job opening for less than 12hrs before they had to pull it from an overwelming response. I emailed him and said whats up with the website and he responded that they had too many people in the first few hrs!!!!! I am glad I have something on the back burner and was wondering if you guys that are laid off are experiencing the same thing?

I hope your searches are going well.

I count my blessings. I am up all hours of the night and going to customer sites during the day. My plan "B" I had in place years ago is finally coming into play. I have been unemployed since 4-1-2009 and have managed to bring in more money the past month than any other time in my life. Crazy, the work is out there and I kind of dread when things pick back up with the economy. Companies will be able to hire people instead of calling me in for things.

What kind of work are you into?

Some sectors are doing really well and some are not. For IT on the auto supplier and manufacturer side of things, there is tons of work out there. Some companies are even taking this slowdown as time to take a breath and perform upgrades before the impending surge of new car demand hits in a few years.

I'm not out of work but I've been doing more side work. The boss doesn't understand why no one want to get their cars repaired. He just doesn't get that you can't survive with a mentality of the "top ten percent". I've been cut down to 30 hours and the rest is gravy. I can make $500 a day in side work and he only wants to pay me $500 a week so tell me where his mind is.

im in the cell phone industry and we are actually making more than we ever have, breaking records every quarter, thing is though they put a hiring freeze on a few months ago and havent started to fill any of the positions that have been left open.

Since Feb, we have lost 2 full time and are about to lose a part time and our manager is out on medical leave due to a pretty nasty fall. I just got a raise and I'm working every single day trying to get as many hours as I can because I know that it won't last. I make about 27 an hour on overtime so its hard to walk away from that.
