Gents .... I'm new to the forum, and reading and learning. I wanted to reply to this thread because i am working my first build and have some cam questions. I acquired several 4.1 blocks, and a truck load full of good "vintage" parts .... none of the parts are of the turbo genre. But I'm doing this 4.1 N/A for my old Jeepster, to replace the blown 231 EF. I have 3 unused Kenne Bell cams. One of them is marked KB 2H, one looks like KB MK 1+ and the other one is KB MK 3R ... I'm thinking of using one of them with flat tappet lifters. The 2H, and the 3R have the original specs cards. I'm trying to figure out the MK1+ ? anybody have any info on this cam ? could it be the MK 1X ? .... any opinions on suitability for a RV type N/A build ? Thanks for looking !
You may want to post in Engine Tech for information on the Kenne Bell cams. More people will see it there and someone is bound to have an old Kenne Bell catalog. They are most likely all hydraulic flat tappet NA cams. I thought an X in the Kenne Bell number was a turbo grind but can't remember anymore.

Thanks .... good tip .... the info I have says KB "TX" cams are meant for turbo applications ..... but just curious, what would be the fundamental difference between an N/A cam, and a turbo cam

The whole idea of a performance NA cam is to lift the valves open higher and longer. It's much different for a turbo engine that has boost pressure to fill the cylinders.

What condition are these cams in? Id be interested in one. I do have a new 204/214 if you are looking for something like that.

They are all unused, I can send pics, I am looking to sell two maybe all three of them …. If I keep one it would be the mildest of the three. The 3R is for sure a race engine cam… when I get home later today I can post the specs, and pics including the grind cards on the MK 2H, and the MK 3R.

These two KB cams came from a retiring builder in the Riverside CA area. Also obtained several 4.1 blocks, and a bunch of other Buick V6 stull. I have a third KB that is a MK 1 series, i think closest to a stock spec cam. don't have the spec card on this one. I'm building a Jeep motor, so I'm not much interested in higher end race engine stuff.

Those are sweet! I'd like 2nd pickings. There was a Kenne Bell 1XB cam in my NA 3.8, it was a really good cam that eventually flattened a intake lobe.
