For those of you who are not using the special tool to compress the springs in the forward drum how did you do it. Is there an easy way without the tool?

I use a spring compressor but ive done it with my thumbs before with the help of a friend.

Thank you for he help. I was actually able to push the springs down myself and remove the rings. Not too bad. But when it comes time to put it back together I am going to have a friend help.

I have a friend who uses two welding type Vice Grip pliers. The C clamp looking ones and places them directly across from each other and "presses" the spring pack just enough to take out the snap ring.

Same here

I call them large throat vice grips

When I did mine, I cheated and used some regular C-clamps I had laying around.
