Ok I have a 9.5 Pro Torque converter with a 2800 stall speed... Converter only has 478 miles on it, I am starting to feel like I need a bigger stall, so it will spool up quicker. I heard you can send your converter back and they can adjust the stall to lets say 3800... Or do I need to buy a new converter....thanks in advance

i have the same convertor, but mine was a 3200. it was to tight for me, sent it back and they maxed it out at 3700. works much better now. i shipped it to them, they restalled it and shipped it back within a week free of charge. i think they will do that once for free within a certain time from purchase

You need to do a stall test to see what it stalls at 0-1# of boost. I bet it's way short of 3200 if you think it's not enough. Let's say it stalls at 2600. You can then tell them to loosen it 400-600 rpm. This will give them a better idea of what to change. You need 3000-3200 at 0-1# to spool your 66mm.

Dusty Thanks for the info.... Just did that test and it stalls at 25ish?... that would make me a little sluggish to spool rt?

Yes that will be to low of a stall for a 66mm. It needs to be 400-600 rpm looser.

Long story but most converters don't stall anywhere near what they are advertised at because they aren't built with a turbo V6 in mind. Most are rated for a stout V8 application so the rpm rating is off.

Dusty, if I could can you answer another question? Say I had a stroker with same apps and trans, does it need a new converter?

The stroker motor would drive that stall a little higher so it would act as if it was a looser converter. Maybe 2700. When you start pushing a converter the final determination on whether you need a new converter will be it's rpm drop on the gear change/ efficiency. What a stroker motor does is allow you to run a tighter converter for better efficiency without loosing spool up.
