A friend and Buick Mechanic is working on an 87 T Type and is unable to fix a problem. When coolant temperature is under 160 and shifted from park to drive the car stalls immediately. Once at 160 or higher it works perfectly. He has replaced the IAC, removed the translater and re-enstalled the stock MAS, replaced the 60# chip, adjusted the TPS currently set at .45 at idle, adjusted the fuel pressure setting (43 psi) up and down, replaced the ECM, no codes were found, checked for vacuum leaks. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this and can offer possible solutions,

Thanks

I would check the P/N switch. If it's not working or out of adjustment it will have a hard time idling in gear.

unplug the TCC

see if it fixes the problem, if it does, replace the TCC, if not -no $$ spent.

This car he's working on have a vigillante 7 disc converter????

Could it possibly be cold start idle fuel set too lean in the chip? My SD TT chip has a parameter for this and instructions to adjust it provide that it may be too lean if the cars stall when being placed in gear. Just a thought.
