Cam doesn't look bad. I don't know if a 23* head needs that much ex duration but it would work.

Don't worry about the thicker head gasket. Even 9.5-1 is not an issue with race gas.

Need some more help!!!!!

i am building an all eagle forged 406 sbc with 8.7:1 je pistons and a 254/249 @.050 .643/.616 solid roller camshaft, dart 230 heads with 2.05/1.60 valves.

i am waiting on a package deal price for the intake setup below, cam and lifters and maybe his brodix -10 heads if its the right price if not it would be with my heads.

was thinking about an s475 for $640 (98lbs/min with 1.32 a/r and support 1000hp) (75mm wheel)

but i ran across twin s200 for a little less but maybe even lesser then the s475 turbo (48lb/min with 1.15 a/r and support 450hp+ ) (51mm wheel)

combined (96lbs/min and support 900hp+ )

part number is rs509807
model number is s200s057
serial number is k0905a 743

they come with 1.15 a/r t4 exhaust housings
but can get .83 or 1.00 also

aeromotive fuel system (i have)
victor jr efi intake with 90 mm tb (waiting on package price)
7531 or 7535 box with my fast efi system (fast i have box i don't yet)

looking at starting with 83lb but may buy 120lb or 160lb injectors

the block has a fresh .030 over bore with deck plugs, hard blocked halfway, copper o-ringed, splayed manley 4 bolt mains, and notched for a 4.000 stroke but not going to though!!!!!!! ( i have)

hp level not sure but want to try to get close to the 1000hp area

what is the best turbo for the job listed and others?
what a/r if its the twins listed?
what injectors?
which box 7531 or 7535?

92 fox body trunk car looking for hi 5 second (5.30 - 5.95) passes or so!!!!! Stock Suspension Car!!!!!!

You don't want to run a 7al or so. The 7531 is expensive and you won't use all the features. It's a waste of money for your set-up. I only used it because I have to for the timing functions. I love the proven 7al2

I am looking at 7al-2 units for sale and they are about 250.00 used and you have to take a chance of it not lasting long. The new msd programmable 6al-2 6530 box which has boost retard is $370.00 new. So this is the low budget version of the 7535 box.

Guess this is the box for me!!!

since my fast box is a b2b unit i was told get 83# injectors because anything above 96 will have idle problem with surging at idle.

hp level trying to get is 700hp

thanks guys!

drop block off to machine shop today to be check out looks good from machinist pick up on monday.

You dont need the boost retard the fast will do that for you. I have a 6al and a blaster ss coil on mine and it works fine.

The problem is that you are looking at MSD stuff, which is marginal at best. Check out the Crane HI 6 ignitions. Lots of us are using them on our cars both V6 and V8s. Some of the fastest TSM cars are using it.

never used the crane systems before and have always used the msd stuff all my race cars and all the cars i helped done.

malibuick so you run at a locked out timing and never retard for boost no room for overboost at all.

i remember you run 33 degrees the complete run up to 18 pounds, correct

dusty said 34 degrees and retard .5 degree for every pound of boost

dont want to blow a block because of detonation

but i know the tune is what saves the motor from detonation?

i am installing the fast software and downloading instructions to understand the software better. at times i forget it controls
both fuel and fire?

so use the fast to control everything and msd just to fire when told by the fast ecu, right.

do anyone have a tune i could download to understand the software better my box is the classic b2b.

The fast controls the fuel and the timing. All you need is a plain old 6al or 7al with a 2 step box added to it.

The b2b FAST box will get it's signal from the pick-up in the distributor. It will need to be set by eye sight so that the signal goes to the fast system at something around 40-60* before top dead center. If you have a distributor with a phaseable rotor the job will be much easier. If you have a regular mag pick-up the trigger wheel inside the distributor may have to be re-aligned to get everything right.

All timing will then be controlled by the FAST.

what is the best distributor for this phasing job?

looking at a msd 84891 distibutor, its a crab cap sbc with mag pickup to use with a digital 6al-2 (2 step not boost retard box) or 7al-2 box (used).

what model is phasable?

or should i just get a crank trigger and crank trigger distributor

i can get both around the same price used.

I prefer the crank trigger over using the distributor as your crank pick-up. Crank trigger is the way to go.

The distributor can be a crank trigger or regular mag pick-up. If you get the mag pick-up it can be used with a sequential box down the road if you ever upgrade.

Well this is way the build is going to go since i now have these parts!

sbc 408 o-ringed,half filled, deck plugs, with manley 4 bolt splayed mains

eagle rotating assembley, 4340 rods and crank, 9.2 JE pistons, internal balance eagle's 1100-1500 kit (in the next two weeks)

brodix aluminum -10 heads, 217 runners, 64cc chambers, spreadport with crane quick lift shaft rockers, ported and polished

Cam Motion solid roller, 254/249 duration, .686/.657 114 lobe center, 110 centerline and matching roller lifters

edelbrock victor jr. efi intake, ported & polished with fuel rails

fast 83# injectors

accufab 90mm throttle body

msd low profile crank trigger distributer

moroso crank trigger wheel and sensor

aeromotive a1000 pump and efi regulator

fast b2b system

electric water pump

and will be using a msd 7al-2 box

turbo maybe a bw s475 or gt4788

but since the engine changed in cubic inches, better heads, and larger cam what should i really be looking at a 88mm, 91mm, 94mm, 101mm turbo or such.

i bought this top end from a guy on turbomustangs which he had it listed on racingjunk.com both had it on a 406. he had it in a malibu and went 9.09 at 186 in the 1/4 he said which is also on the timesheet to build thread on turbo mustangs. just want 700 or so to get to the 5.30-5.95 range in the 1/8 but be able to trun her up if needed.

Dusty he says he knows and have talked to you before he is basically going to a setup like yours sb2 headed 406.

Stock block right??

With a 406 you'd want a large turbine side on a competition motor but a real 91mm would make 1400hp and would turn your engine into a pile of broken parts very easily. I'd stay with something smaller like a S475, S480 or GT47/80 to a 47/88. The smaller turbine side will limit power and keep you in a safer range for that block.

Thanks, a bunch when its all completed and done, I will probably have you (Dusty) to tune the car for me are setup me up with a safe tune to start how with.

Also Dusty the previous guy had a T4 88mm turbo when it was in his malibu!!!

But hers is what i found so far:

I will sale you mine for $700 it has about 10 miles on it. I want to go bigger with my new engine. Its a s480 with 1.10 housing and the 83 wheel.
