A friend fowarded this to me from SRTforums.
I think there's more to this story than a stock SRT beating a modded T Type, unless it's a hot air car.

Turbo Regals are NOT made to race from a roll.

I had the same thing happen to me last month, some SRT-4 wanted to run me from 40 on, I did, and put a car on him well into 4th.

If I raced him from a dig, it would of been bus lengths between us.

theres always going to be someone faster than you out there. just so happens this guy had a neon and a video camera. it happens...

but hopefully a lot of these guys are going to see this and start wanting to race us to put another knotch on their steering wheel. which probably won't happen for most of them.

If you notice a *lot* of them know what the Turbo Regals are and their capabilities. Still may be able to get some fun and profit from people who don't know better. Someone needs to track that guy down and give him some pointers regardless, make sure it doesn't happen again.

Looks like a nice clean race-

i would guess that both are high 13 second cars, i didnt read the thread there, but those neons run low 14s stock right?

A buddy of mine here in KC has one, it runs pretty dang goooood, and its not stock.

Hopefully the owner of the turbo regal is here on the board and can fill us in to what is done to his car-

it sounds like a stock turbo with a 9 inch K&N filter and a hooker cat back system with no cat-

My dads WE4 has the stock airbox and a K&N filter installed, you can hear his turbo 2 blocks away, it whistles alot more than mine do

They'll run 108-110 mph in the 1/4 with very few mods...about what a stock T/R will run with Race gas or Alchy... without these, its hit or miss who will win... From a roll on straight pump gas, I'll take the SRT-4

I can't wait to run into one of these little rice boys this summer with my new grandpa car. With a best of 11.9 in the 1/4 I don't think I'll run into an SRT that I'll need to worry about....at least in my lifetime.

Isn't it great that we have set the bar with cars that are nearly 20 years old?! Everyone's out to beat the Buicks. Hell, I'll kick their ass with my GS if they want to pick on an old guy!

The 60 to 120 run is the sweet spot for the SRT4.

We have a guy that used to race with us Open Road Racing (until he got married) that dumped a ton of money into his '03. Our Pontiac 2+2 would flat kick his ass, though his car could run low 13's in the 1/4 and our Pontiac would be lucky to run a low 14.

ORR requires a car to Pull hard from 120 to 160 and for an SRT-4 this means overdrive 5th gear. Like a TR shifting into OD, once an SRT4 goes into OD, rapid accelleration ceases. At the Nebraska ORR We were over 10 mph faster in the standing mile and ran the course with an Average 10 mph faster than he did.

60 to 120, though, he would easily beat my T-type when it ran mid-high 12's.

Very true... really have set the bar... and the pack is finally catching. I don't even race my car much any more.. just driving around with long standing bragging rights.
