How about a spec fuel limitation? It could be 100 unleaded or even kitten-wizz 93 octane pump gas.
This might keep the players from getting tangled up in roll bar requirements and maintain street-car ET's.
Id have to say that there is a handful of stock turbo cars in the 11.49 range with a dutt neck stock non stretched intercooler. Matter of fact, i can only think of 2 right now. Rollbars are required at 11.49 when the track is not rented ( been that way at many types of events :wink
I was hoping to take this class to a stock appearing, stock turbo, with slicks OR Drag radial class trying to beat Ed Brewers 11.3 setup. I doubt anyone will come close to it, but you never know. I bet most cars would be in the 12.0 range if its hot outside. Honest answer
Racegas and alky will allow all cars to go faster, and inducing a fuel octane limit would only put more strain on the tech person making sure that everyone is following the class rules per the limited octane.
I do have a valid question for everyone posting on this thread and the slicks and tires thread.
How many of you are truely are going to race in this class when its setup?
I see alot of posting and know some of the guys will definitely be racing in it, but just need to know truthfully if you are commited to race.
I spoke with Jim Carswell the other day on the phone about this class and getting it setup. I hope its OK with everyone, but looks like i will be in charge of making sure that everyone meets the class specifications at the nationals... IE Bosshole
My only concern is that in the tire poll, many non participants may be making decisions in this class and not even make it to the event.
I have no issue allowing up to a 28x10.5 ( NON W ) tire as long as there is no frame notch and i am OK with a lil fender roll to make it fit.
If someone wants to run a 275/50 or even possibly a 295/ as long as the requirements are met, then that would be fine to me...
Nothing is set in stone, and Jim C and i need to hash out all the ins and outs of what is allowed.. Mostly stock is the KEY to this class.
Hemco stock appearing is OK, but not the race version IMO
I do know that the western wheels and stock stretched wheels will be the next line of interest.
In my opinion, any t-type wheel including the western wheels (look below at picture) GN wheel, and TTA wheel would be avail, also the stretched stock wheels that are avail from Gbody and or local buddy, and the GNX wheels, should be able to swap around between all cars.
So a 86 or 87 turbo regal could run GTA wheels if they like, or a GN could run t-type wheels, vise versa.
Would everyone racing in the class be against running these wheels, they are american racing / western / dukes of hazard wheels 15x8.5's and pretty much look identical to the stock wheel? I previously had 28x10.5s and only required a lil trim work on my car, but now have sold the tires.
