Stuck in a Predicament

i have been daily driving 1 of several t types that i own everyday for the last 7 years. things i had to replace most frequently was stock maf sensors going bad which i suspect them going bad from maf pipes shaking them.i have been running lt1 maf and translator and zero problems since. had to replace 1 crank sensor and 1 module and coil that was all.probably put 300,000 miles on the group of cars obviously i had to normal stuff like brakes,tires,filters oil changes but not a lot turbo regal specific stuff.

i have had many broken trannys but i think that has to do with racing the daily driver all turned up.

you live in texas it is not like you have to worry about crashing it in the snow?

Go with the Honda to start. I just bought a 97 Civic HX and get like 40mpg...
Can't beat that with a stick and gas prices are just going to go up. Not to mention that you can do super cheap and easy maintenance on the Honda (when you have to which is apparently infrequently). I just swapped the plugs and it took all of about 2 minutes... I recommend the HX because it's the gutless fuel economy model and most ricers avoid them (so you can find them not all hacked up)- Also, probably less likely to be stolen than an EX or LX model...

While you're saving money on insurance, car payments, fuel and maintenance you can be shopping for the right turbo regal. These cars are great. However, they are money pits. Note that the older (or at least smarter TR people here) will tell you to save up and buy a car that is finished. Yes it will cost more up front but you'll have less to worry about and will acutally probably be cheaper in the long run.

Besides, it's a good idea to have at least one reliable car; just in case.

we drove Buicks and TTAs as DD from 86 till 2000/2001. Had a summer fleet and a winter fleet. It was a ball to do !! BUT.. ya always a big BUT !! I have had a LOT of parts cars over the years. I got to know Buicks very well Now go buy your Honda an don't look back !! Buy a Buick when ya can get a deal on it.

If it has been maintained that is not a bad price. Make sure timing belt and all services have been done . You will get another 100k out of it easy. Any car you get 100k out of is worth 2400. better yet throw $2000 in front of them and see what they say. like Grumpy said buy the Honda and dont look back. The car market is going nowhere for a long time. The prices on gns are staying right where they are at. when the housing market starts turning around start looking for a gn. So what im saying is you have some time to save up some cash.

If you find a good deal on a GN, go for it. You can always borrow a couple grand against it to buy a decent beater

If you want a nice DD get something with a LS1. Reliable, decent on gas, and easy to upgrade. A GN won't make a good DD, unless your one of the lucky ones that has good luck with these train wreaks. I would get the Honda and rock it until the wheels fall off :wink:

Honda is a good DD, stay far from the Mazda. The Impala Ins is not much different than the Honda if not cheaper.

Dude buy your gn now!!!!!! Strike while the iron is hot as they say!!! so that way you have it while you have the $$ and opportunity to get a deal cause it isnt always there, stuff always happens and your "fun" $$ get chipped and chopped away kids bills etc etc etc .. That way you have the car even if you can only do a lil to it at a time youll kick urself if you miss out and ur cash disapears you can always find a beater to drive around... I bought a running driving grand marquis for $100 and drove it for a year and a half then sold it for $350 after someone hit me in a parking lot...When theres a need for something you tend to make it a prority and get it done like if you buy the gn and dont want it to get messed up youll make it a priority to find another car asap...
