Anyone received their SI (or SE) heads yet?

Anyone rec'd any info in last week or two as to when shipping is likely?

Any info greatly appreciated!

TIA!!

No one has received heads yet. The production castings are ready for machining. The CNC machine is now being set and indexed for final machining. As soon as a set is done in the CNC, we will get valves, seats, springs and other pieces to complete them.

It will also be necessary to do a mock-up with a motor in a car to check clearances, verify pushrod length and other criteria. We also need to have the bolt-on rocker stands fabricated as all heads will be machined with 14 bolt capability.

Appreciate your asking and interest, as I was going to do an update this week. When the first set is done in the CNC, will get pics and another progress report.

Nick,

What are the maximum valve sizes going to be on both the intake amd exhaust?

K.

Let me give you Mike's breakdown for the names he is going to use for the TA heads:

Stock Intimidator - stock replacements and can use stock-type rockers, ports will be CNC to stock intake/exhaust gaskets, cc's will be fully machined.

Street Eliminator - race-type head, will use 5/8" rocker shafts and roller rockers, ports machined to Felpro 1200 and 1400 gaskets.
Designed to support upwards of 1200 HP.

Heads will all be drilled for 14 bolt blocks. For 8 bolt version a pedestal replicator will be provided. Current valves are 1.94"/1.60" with spring install height of 1.90". Looking to possibly use 2.02" intakes on the SE heads as an option.

Track Eliminator - strictly race heads, raised port design will require special intake [now being designed] and flow approx. to Stage II specs. Design work is almost complete. Expect production
by Fall of this year along with the new intake manifold.

These heads will all have the new combustion chamber design with revised spark plug location and swirl port design. It will NOT be the same as the M&A. This improved design is one of the reasons for the longer development and production times as originally planned. Worth the wait!
:D

Any idea of the price for the SI's? Any flow #'s? How will they flow compared to ported stock irons or ported champions?

Steve, the TA heads will come standard with 1.94" intake valves. To use 2.02" valves, a different seat is required. When you order your set, specify the desired size intake valve.:D

I will! :) Thanks for the comprehensive update. My hat is off to you and the others involved in this effort. The chamber design is of particular interest as it would seem to me that more compression and/or boost should be obtained.

Any more word on billet cranks, etc? :)

Nick, does TA Performance ever plan on selling complete shortblocks and longblocks? Inquiring minds want to know!:)

Nick will be happy to build you one. :)

I saw on here in the Stage II tech section a guy named Larry was having TA Performance build him a complete TA aluminum V6 motor, but I didn't know for sure if they planned on doing this for everybody..... Reason I asked is later on when my stock block motor needs rebuilding (probably a couple years from now) I would like to buy a complete shortblock or longblock rather than spend all of my money on rebuilding the stock block with all the good parts...... It just makes more sense to me to spend a little more money on a motor and wait a little longer but at least know it has all of the best parts including the block!!! I know of several other guys down here that will be very interested in being able to purchase an aluminum V6 motor already built and assembled so I will be keeping an eye on this for sure!!! :)

Nick or anyone

What are the prices on the billet cranks?

LOL....Yes it is...and its got some left in it still;)

Nick ,
Thanks for the info.

Nick,

I'm in!!

I've had enough grief from the aluminum heads that are available currently and I'm looking forward to a head with a stout design like the TA heads. I was commenting to a friend that I'd spent more $$ on heads than anything else in the quest for horsepower. I think it's about time we have a "Racing Head" that lives up to it's reputation. BTW, I'm still planning on coming to visit you guy's later this month.

'Til then take care and keep up the good work.

Neal

P.S. Louie, your car kicks A$$. :)

I saw the article in Hot Rod about the new T/A aluminum 231 block and was wondering if anyone knew how much $$$ that was going to run when ready ??
