Most guy's seem to like the PTC 2800-3000 10 Inch L/U converter for the TE-44 Turbo.Anybody like a non/lock up converter on the street with the TE-44 Turbo??

Stock should be fine I agree with Dan, (P.S. Dan is OLD and knows his STUFF bout these cars.) If you feel like you needed to have a TC any decent 2800 Stall TC would be plenty for that turbo. I ran a TA60 for years with a stock TC without problems.

The car spools way to slow compared to a stock Turbo Regal.I guess the L/U 10 inch 2800 converter is the one to go with.

have you done anything with the tune to help spool it??
I've talked with you before, hit me up if you would be interested in my PTC. I am going to go to a 9.5 n/l this year.

Yeah I have set mu 02 volts and made sure it was not running to rich.It does not spool anything near like a stock Turbo regal would. What is your PTC converter, stall speed and LU or Non LU??

are you sure you have no exhaust leaks and the wastegate puck is sealing? i know when we ran a TE44 on a stock D5 converter it spooled almost as fast as a stock turbo

2800 L/U 10 in

I agree with boost231 on this too. I had a te44 with a stocker and it spooled like the stocker. no chance the waste gate hole is ported or anything?? maybe not sealing there???

No leaks.I do have a Racegate set up which might be the reason for the slow spooling but I get different answers that having a Racegate slows down the spooling of a Turbo.

I have always run an internally gated pipe, so I am not sure how to advise you on that.

I run an external gate on my GN, RJC boost controller (not sure if it helps or hurts) and it spools same as a stocker on a D5.

I'm running one of our 2800 Non Lock-up converters and it works perfectly!

I would do some checking on your racegate to make sure it's not that first before going with a new converter.

The Racegate was checked many years ago and it is fine.It just botheres me that 1st gear my car takes a bit to get into Boost.I thought Non Lock-up converter's are not very street friendly.I don't race the car but I want the car tuned and ready to fly if I need to pass someone quick on the highway.:cool:Maybe my ESP big front mount intercooler is causing the slow spool?? Another thing is I don't like my 009 injector's.Someday I will get the 60lb injectors.

Ive ran a transcrafters red stripe D5 in my GN since 98. TE44 and bluetops .Raced it for 3 years almost every weekend and it is still together.
11.80s all day long best of 11.69.I dont know if they are still around but I heard it was hit or miss if you got a good one .I must have

The way my car runs I need a good converter. Its fast as Hell but it has that V-6 feeling in 1st gear for too long.Powerbraking it from a stop I could probably go easy 11.5's if i shifted right.

Either a restalled D5 or 10" LU PTC would be nice.

Why are you shifting it manually, is it not shifting high enough? If so, have the governor tweaked.

There is no noticable difference between the Non Lock-up and Lock-up other than when it locks up, other wise they are the same. The Non lock-up is perfectly fine on the street and very street freindly, the Only thing with the Non lock-up is only a few hundred more RPM's on the interstate..

BTW: The larger intercooler should actually make it spool better/quicker..

No I don't like shifting it because i don't have the shifter on the column like 99.9% of the Turbo Regals have.I have the darn shifter up by the steering wheel and its just to easy to miss shifts(Limited Edition Regals had this).I wish i could change to the column shifter or maybe even a Hurst type style shifter.I have never seen a Hurst shifter on our type of cars.I was going to take it out for a ride because it has been awhile since I have driven it.Its still fast but with a 2800 stall 10 Inch converter Im sure it will give the car alot more pep in 1st gear without frying the tires.Im not a fan of not getting traction. It takes away the G Force of a Full throttle run on the streets or track.

Except maybe for Cotton's front mount intercooler from what I heard.I probably will go with the 2800 10 Inch L/U converter because I don't need the extra Rpm's.My car feels alot faster when I use 26 Inch tall tire's compared to the 28 Inch tall tire's i have on it now.Remember I have the 3.73 gear's but would like to go back to 3.42's.I think the converter will make up for the difference.Although I like driving around town with the 28 Inch tall BFG Drag Radials.I don't know if its worth it to change gear's then.

Get a TT chip and new 60 #injectors, the 44 should fry the tires with champion heads. Keep a lock-up converter for the street mpg, it's all in the combination. You should be frying the tires now..... maybe the chip/injectors would wake it up. If you have a logger post up a file.
Cotton has a good front mount...
