How does this turbo do with the stock converter, I just recently put it on but haven’t gotten a chance to try it out seeing that my trans was still not right since the last time I got it back from the shop. So I took it out and dropped it off at a friend of my uncles to build it, he does allot of stockers and super stockers for over 40 years so I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.

What could I expect from it, iv looked it up on here and it seems to be allot of different thoughts on it, allot say a 2800 stall or bigger for it and iv seen some say that its fine with the stock converter. I mainly drive it in the streets and probably wont make it to the track that much so what should I do stick with the stock converter and a rjc boost controller or since I’m getting the trans done already should I go ahead and get a larger stall in it and what stall should I go with?

What is ....

your goal? If you plan on upgrading, you want to go bigger than the 2800, or consider a 9/11 if gas costs is an issue. That can give you more options. I've run it w/a 1900 stock and a 2400 9/11 and was not disappointed. very streetable w/hardly any lag.

I ran an old 3200 A/C lu converter with mine. It had instant spool and drove in traffic like a stocker.

How much $$$$ you have? Tight on cash run the stock stall but my guess you'll not like the spool up. With that turbo I ran a 2800 12" and it was not bad.

I have a TE60 and a Vigilante 3000 and it spools really quick. My 60 also has a Garrett .63 exhaust housing so that helps a little also. Call or e-mail Dusty Bradford, he will be able to set you up right.

did this mod last year. put the te60 on, it was slow to spool, put on a 3000l/u and it was a big difference. but it wanted to shred tires once it hit 18lbs. didn't seem to matter what speed.

I put a TE60 on my car, and did not like it with the stock converter. Spooled way too slow.
Changed to a Pats 10" 3000 stall, and it spools fine now.

I would not go with anything less than a 2800 stall... The fact that your tranny is already out of the car now is the time to do it right.... Go with a 3000 stall get instant spool and you will be happy.. My Te-60 spooled pretty good with the restalled D-5 at 2800, but 3000 would have been better!!!

Here's your stall choices for the TE-60 if it were my car.

These are true stall speeds at 0-1# of boost.

Restalled D5 will stall at 2200 or so.

Then you have the 10" converters which are much lighter than the d5's. These 10" converters can be had in 2400,2600 and 2800 stalls.

And I was going to get a 3200 LU for my TE-44.Throttle response and quick boost is great.Spinning and not getting traction on the street sucks!! I may go with a 3000 9.5 LU single disc Vigilante converter.I want to make sure I get the right one for my engine's set up.Right now I don't get anything close to how quick a stocker spools up.

just for my information
1-How much lighter is the 10" over the D5?
2-Whats in the 10" TC?
3-Can the 10" be had in 2200 stall?

The first question anyone should ask here... What exhaust housing is on the turbo? Garrett or Precision? Because yes it makes a huge spool difference on a Ta/Te44/49, Ta/Te60, Ta/Te61/54...

It made a big difference in my car.I had a .63 Precisio Housing that worked well but I sold it on here:rolleyes:and picked up a garret .63.As soon as it hit full boost on a street run the car pulls strongly to the left. With the Precision it stayed straight and the car also felt fasater probably because i didn't spin my tires. Now I have 2 .63 Garret Housings but i wished I had my old PTE .63 Housing back.

I believe it has the precision cover...It doesn’t seem to spool that bad right now but its not like I would want it to be, it sure does seem to pull harder and more than the stock one did. I’m just trying to figure out what’s wrong with my car first then ill be looking for a converter soon.

TAKE IT OFF :mad:and put a garret exhaust housing on it will be a night and day deference.
