I have not been able to commit the time to this project like I would like but I have been throwing around some ideas and putting a small effort into making this a happen. I don't have all the components selected and this is strictly a paper design.
Theory of operation.
Case 1 - Solenoid off – Normal operation
1 – Oil flows from external pressure port ( approx. 200 PSI) into .100” orifice
2 - .100” orifice and reduces flow and oil pressure to about 60-80 PSI depending on cooler restrictions.
3 – Oil flows through one way ball check.
4 – Oil flows by 1.5 quart oil accumulator with air charge set to about 60 PSI and partially charged
5 – Oil flows through normally open solenoid valve.
6 – Converter receives 60-80 PSI charge oil for normal operation.
Case 2 – Solenoid on – Stall change
1 – Oil flows from external pressure port ( approx. 200 PSI) into .100” orifice
2 - .100” orifice and reduces flow but oil pressure builds and meets line pressure due to no flow demand.
3 – Oil flows through one way ball check until pressure is equalized.
4 – Oil charges 1.5 quart oil accumulator with air charge set to about 60 PSI.
5 – Oil stops at solenoid that is now closed with electrical power.
6 – Converter receives no oil, stall increases.
Case 3 - Solenoid on – Converter charging after stall change
1 – Normally open solenoid opens, 200 PSI charge pressure begins to flow into converter.
2 – One-way ball check is active since .100” orifice can’t keep up with flow demand.
3 – 200 PSI oil pressure from 1.5 quart oil accumulator will rapidly charge converter.
4 – Oil flows through normally open solenoid valve.
5 – Converter initially receives approx. 200 PSI charge oil.
6 – Pressure stabilizes at 60-80 PSI from .100 control orifice after accumulator charging is complete.
I'm not a very good artist but attemped to sketch the circuit in the below attachement. This will be an external design. I chosen this path for ease of adjustiblity. I'm slowly working on the pump modifications and will post pictures when it's complete.
Critiques are welcome.
