Our new seperator plate has definately been a fix for the problem, but improvements elsewhere have been made.I have finally found the real causes of high gear failure with or without dual feeding with engines over 400 horsepower. It is related to the 3/2 control valve in the high gear circuit. There is now a mod that produces instant results for mismatched or poorly calibrated circuits within the circuit. There is no faster shift with no overlap at all throttle angles. The 9 clutch direct drums with full thickness steels have been tested and are now being manufactured, the billet piston has been made as well further improving clutch life, but this mod is phenomenal and has paid huge dividends. The information will be in our technical supplement as well as alot of other tech. The 3/2 control valve fix will soon be updated into the shift recalibration kit as well. Also we are running the billet forward drum with a 30 spline shaft and a matching ring gear.

does this shift valve mod do anothing for the 2-3 busy-ness at min throttle?

I am convinced that excessive overlap at min throttle 2-3 causes the governor pressure to dip just enough to cause the backshift.

Hoping for a fix.... :)

I was wondering the same thing. Though I did put one of Chris' spacer plates in a trans recently that had the 2-3 busy-ness problem and the problem went away.

I didnt know the plate fixed that busyness problem as well.maybe the orificing to the mtv down valve? As far as the supplement I will do the best to finish up in 2 weeks.itll be around 15.00.I will get with bison for some data logs on the vbody if possible and have some additional tv plunger info as well.

Chris, you are my hero. I admire you guys who have the time to go thru this as I work at Toyota and worked at an independant shop for 12 years before that. I was never allowed by the owner to go too far into something like that. Just rebuild it and ship it was his idea. No valve body improvements was his way. I thought if someone took the time to figure out why things happened and offer a kit to fix for them, that wasn't a bad thing. I did my best to figure out things like that, doing transmissions at home and did very well. Been doing them 20 years and learned a LOT that way. Getting my hands on ANY data that was released and fixing them without his knowing that I was using aftermarket parts (SK's and such) to remedy trans problems.
