It does look better than the proposed new Camaro but if they produced it, the hood bird would have to have a factory delete option for me. Just too old now to like that big 'ol fire chicken on the hood. This said from a family that owned 6 Trans-Ams back in the day from 1977-1983.

That looks pretty sweet. Ide like to see it in pewter and some ram air action like the WS6. Whats with the car manufacturers being scared of making high HP cars with turbos? I dont get it.

Okay listen up. If you're going to do a retro Firebird using the 09 Camaro, please get the freaking details correct. Thats based on the 1969 body. Not the 2nd gen. No F'n shaker hood! Here use this pic for a guide. That car would look so much better dressed up like a 69 T/A. Thanks for listening.

I love the 69 T/As. That would look much cooler with the long scoops like the 69 rather than the shaker.

I've seen this before, it was just an artists version of the Trans Am and GM has no intentions of doing a TA. If GM did it, it would be based on the "Best Selling" Trans Am which had the bird and shaker, they produced over 100k Trans Ams per year..not including Firebirds and Formulas..in the last years of the 70's. It would not be based on the 69 TA.

I did have that same pic but in black, but can't find it now...

And whats wrong with that bird on the hood??

But then it would be basicly the same as what they discontinued due to poor sales.

Here's another rendition...

sorry turbofish.........but the gen 2 looks better than the gen 1 birds. i never did like the nose on a t/a like yours as much as the "smokey and the bandit" style......;)

Not to mention that the camaros and firebirds look the same to most people.

New 2nd gen looks F'n awesome!!!

Does anyone know why Pontiac got snubbed on the new platform, Turbofish??
I would think this could only help Pontiac but GM is giving the reigns to Chevy, the bird actually looks cool on the hood.

And wow, I really like that body style in all black, really bad ass looking. I keep seeing it in orange when they really need to market it in all black.

both look goood!

Nothin wrong with Dreamin but I doubt if any of those designs will happen, the New ZR 1 Vette for 2009 will be a Reality though. ZR ='s Zuntov's Racer..back to virtual reality, Would love to have an old 70-72 Firebird with the Shaker hood but more importantly with a SuperDuty 455. Have to agree with Turbofish the 69TA is nice and smooooth, like the 69 1/2 better . The 69 1/2 Firebird convertible(small production #s, smoothed out fascia) with a Ram Air 400 white with blue stripes. Liked the front end on 1st gen but liked the Shaker on the SD birds, Even an old Macho TA with the shakerhood has that meaner testosterone look. There was a Movie with Chuck Norris where he drove like a 70 SD Bird the car was blue man that was a car. A contemporary bird with some retro body heredity actually looks more menacing then the old.

Anyone of those new renditions whether Camaro or Fire Chicken would be awesome to have if they actually came into production... How bout a Black Bandit SuperDuty 572 with some type Forced Induction and Alky that runs on pump gas. Talk about Dreaming..

well even though the Goat is gone at least Pontiac is introducing a real RWD that has a touch of GTO and a splash of Firebird ancestry with a healthy dose of technology and contemporary stylin. The G8GT maybe the closest to an actual Pontiac muscle car with Cahones! Pontiac just needs to put some type Force Induction on this model like they did on their GXP 4 bangers.

What do you guys think of the New Pontiac G8GT?? it has 50/50 weight balance engine is low and to the rear, aluminum alloy calipers, limited slip diff., battery is in the trunk the base model comes with the VVT DOHC 3.6 V6 ( the Direct injection variant of this engine has 6 bolt mains too bad it isn't the DI V6 that comes in the CTS)the GT will have a aluminum block 6.0L V8 option with 361hp., 6speed auto with Drive shift control, quad pipes.19" wheels, limite slip, has some potential and alot cheaper then some the othe GM RWDs.
