talked to a good guy i know.. used to have a buick shop...

my rattle.. he says he figures its the thrust bearing..

soooo... 140k on my engine and a friend is willing to let me use one of his complete hotair motors for the time being..

gonna rebuild mine and do it right i suppose... i might as well do it now cause im gonna have to do it sometime!

not 100% sure but i think i'm gonna do it like this:

*get the block tanked and painted, bored .030, check the deck surface for flatness.. get the crank polished..

*new main and rod bearings...

*a set of J&E's and rings

*and some poston headers to put on when i drop the thing back in

*and im gonna stay with the stock cam.. one less variable to worry about..

sound good to you guys?

im gonna be stock for like 6 months :( this sucks.

but i guess when it goes back together its gonna be GREAT.. sucks that i have to spend all this damn money to keep my baby going...

any other ideas? anything i missed? lemme know

If you are going to the trouble rebuilding the motor, then why not put a good cam in it......might save you alot of work later...good luck

good news.

found a guy local.. 7500mi on a rebuilt 86 block, TRW, total seal gapless, comp 206.. arp main bolts.. $500

WOOT!! gonna get it in a few days..

if you end up rebuilding your motor some day .. invest in forged main caps and ARP studs for everything... heads and mains especially..
