I'm looking for feedback on the engine gasket sets most of you are using when doing an engine rebuild. I have a leak from my front timing cover crank seal and want to know if it is better to use the fel-pro set (TCS45930) or to stick with using the gasket from the factory (GM). I know these engines are prone to leaks but I would like to reduce it by choosing the right gasket set.

thanks

I've never heard of anyone recommending staying with the rope seal, but: I suppose someone out there still uses it. The neoprene front and rear replacements are just vastly superior. Done correctly: they won't leak for a LONG time. ;) Get the Fel-Pro kit, and the RJC double thick pan gasket(to keep your bottom drier).
