i have a 100% stock GN with 42K miles....should I keep it stock or make simple mods? My original goal was to have one 100% stock GN but i want more powa!!! Any advice? Louis I know your reading this.

In my humble opinion, a stock GN is not a lot of fun! These cars have so much potential with a little work, it just doesn't make sense to leave it stock. These cars will SCREAM!

Get a K&N, hotwired upgraded fuel pump, and a TT chip and see what you think.

There are so many simple bolt-ons that give you much better performance that I'd go for it. You can always go back to 100% stock if you wish...just make sure you keep track of the original parts and keep them in good shape.

I'm where you are....I bought a 100% stock, low mile GN years ago...and vowed to keep it stock. Then got kind of bored with it. Then got mad when I was challenged by cars a modded GN could have destroyed. So, I decided to do minor bolt ons that could be taken off easy and returned to stock if I wanted. I did the catback exhaust, the 3inch DP, ported exhaust housing, shift kit, Ultrachip(just for the anti theft feature really), bigmouth cold air kit, wider rear tires, scanmaster, airbag, hotwire kit....wasn't really impressed with this stuff, so now I'm gonna do a Razor alchy kit, TTchip, bigger injectors, fuel pump upgrade and then turn up the boost. My ultimate goal is mid to upper 11's.....so in the future I might do a TA49 turbo and PTE stock location intercooler and drag radials. All I can say is so much for keeping it stock!!! :)

x 2 atleast those, it might hit you like a drug to kept buying upgrades tho:cool:

I say a 3x9 AEM dryflow(much better then K&N IMO)
rest of the list as posted above and maybe a CK shift kit as well to keep it short and sweet list of mods.

this one looks decent and affordable IMO http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/recipes/foxrecipe.html

these are a old style but just gives you an idea, add to them and update as you wish.

Why not just do a stock appearing build with an alky kit. Add to the confusion of mustang owners telling them it's stock.

Don't forget about a adjustable fuel pressure regulator,a hood mount fuel pressure gauge and a adjustable waste gate actuator, your going to need those to adjust fuel and boost. Also and most important you will need a way to monitor your engines vitals. Most of us use a ScanMaster, boost and oil pressure gauge at the very least.

look into a fuel pump, hotwire kit, tt chip and e-85 if its available locally, you will never look back!

i know how u feel. i have an all stock 86 with 43000 on it. but i just purchased exhaust, downpipe, injectors, regulator, turbo, intercooler, chip, and converter. i might of went a little overboard.

Yeah i can always make it stock again but i don't ever plan on selling the car. I've already ordered a scanmaster and it should be here tomorrow. I really do want to keep it stock but its so tempting. I found a black limited/t-tops with 50K miles in really good condition and it runs mid 6's in the 8th im thinking about buying. Im a little hesitant with buying it because it has the FAST XFI, cage, and a fuel cell. its really a good deal but i dont know how to mess the with FAST XFI so thats why in considering moding my GN. Well i'll keep you guys posted.

what about your tranny? will a stock converter make it into the 11's?

Really tough call. At this point in my life I appreciate cars a lot more for what they are. Personally I would eave it stock or just mod very tastefully. You have something that will only continue to becone more desirable.

My opinion is to go stock appearing. There are many little things to do to gain hp and performance, and still keep it looking stock. Either way, expect to spend some $. Thinking about getting a personal plate on mine. Moneypit. Probably already been done though.
