Im doing 2 for a guy right now that are being picked up sat.

Thanks for the offer - I'll keep it in mind. I took some pics along the way (the proverbial trail of breadcrumbs) to help me remember how to put it back together. I'll probably try to reassemble it in the next couple of days.

Cool - I didn't even know such things existed. If I get into a bind I might pick one up. Hopefully I'll get it put back together over the weekend if time permits.

Sorry to hear about your problem, but I have heard a lot of horror stories on Level 10 trannys in the DSM world and would never use them.
What did that trans cost you considering you just found out there was not any billet parts in it and I bet only the pump stator was hardened?
You are in good hands with any of the Vendors in this thread.

In your sig you show an 11.8 ET and I would recommend the 400 if you are on a tight budget, you can find a core for around $50-$75 sometimes and they are dirt to rebuild and much stronger than the 200.

I paid around $2,400 back in late 2002 for the trans. I didn't know about the vendors on the board at the time and they seemed to have a decent reputation. The trans has been really good, but there really aren't any hardened parts in there at all. Were I to do it again (a total rebuild or new trans) I'd obviously go to one of the vendors here.

Anyhow, it was just the forward drum. Everything else looks pretty good in there. The trans only has 10-15k miles on it. I finished putting it together last night and I'm going to try to pop it in over the weekend. Hopefully it'll work!

I may move to something else if it keeps breaking, but this time it just needed the drum.

Thanks,
Jim

IT WORKS!

I guess I shouldn't be so surprised - the book from CK was awesome. I put the billet-shaft drum in it and threw it back together with new seals where appropriate. It runs exactly as it did before. No change in behavior that would cause me to be concerned (noises, sloppy shifts, etc.). It's great to have it back together and on the road.

Thanks to Jim Testa for loaning me the crazy looking tools.

I have a new squeak in the rear suspension that I didn't have before, but at least it's not related to the trans. It was sitting on jackstands under the control arms for 2 weeks. Not sure if I messed something up or not. I have new boxed arms to put in it anyway.
