ugh!

these A$$H0LES:
Suzuki of Green Brook – New Jersey Suzuki Dealer serving Newark and Jersey City from Green Brook, NJ

Have their local commercial, advertising the cash for clunkers program to sell their POS Suzukis.
And what is the car in the bottom of the screen representing the "clunker" to trade in for your brand new fuel efficient suzuki?
They have an '87 w02 turbo regal, looked like gn wheels, and a light interior.
All dirty, the 3.8 sfi turbo emblems missing from the hood.

Maybe I'm just grumpy after a long flight, but that hit a nerve.
No need to use one of our cars to represent a POS "clunker"!
I'm going to write a letter.

Letter... Call them and see if you can buy it cheap...

 What else would you expect from someone that owns a Suzuki "car" franchise:biggrin:

Is it still there cause I can't find the ad on their page.....or am I just an idiot?

They also own a Buick dealership!!!

"Welcome to Green Brook Suzuki
Your New Jersey Suzuki Dealer
Visit our Green Brook Pontiac Buick GMC Website."

I was more likely just a publicity stunt!

The law says the cars are to be crushed or shredded:eek: First thing the dealership most due is pour an additive in it to lock up the motor and trans:eek:

I guess this is a good thing for us used cars dealers too. As he is driving up the cost of used cars as he wipes out a good chunk of the old inventory...

I can't imagine the parts stores like this crap to much either...

That's the problem with this program they can't resell the car they have to junk it or there is a hefty fine from the government if the dealer gets caught reselling a car, i asked about it last week when i stopped in to work to hang out since i'm out on disability

+1!

I didn't think a TR would qualify for clunker status. They barely squeek through at 18. Good thing there aren't a whole lot of TR's that are left out there anyway. I mean in the hands of poor scmucks. Ain't no way I'd pay $4500 for a POS. And the NA cars are pulling in the same numbers. Well it looks like the price of used parts just went up. Kind of hard to beat the competetion when it's "The Man"!

Local news did a diddy on the cash for clunkers. They showed what was being traded in at a few dealers. They were total POSs. Not worth $100. I guess all they have to do is start and you have to have owned them for a year with registration. Really it's not a bad deal if you got some uninspectable tank that's next stop already is the bone yard. I wish my neighbor would do that to his old LeBaron. I'm sick of seeing that with the hood up and him scratching his head.

the law says that the car has to be "sold for scrap" by the dealer. the engine is to be disabled by draining the oil and replacing it with a silica solution- small chunks of glass in a solution- and ran until the motor dies and won't restart. all the parts can be sold just like anything else in the junkyard, but i'm sure the VIN is put on some sort of a list that makes it unregisterable in the USA..
but it could still be made into a race car or sold to Mexico or Canada, i'd think..

just for sh*ts and grins had my ol lady put the gn in and it came back it was to old. she wants to get a chrysler sebring h-t conv but neither the 94 dodge shadow or 98 mercury tracer we have qualify for any rebate at all. total b.s if you ask me. no new car for her

Any 84-87 Regal qualifies as a clunker. Read the rules here Suzuki of Green Brook is a Green Brook Suzuki dealer and a new car and used car Green Brook NJ Suzuki dealership.
Less than 25 years old and has a rating of 18MPG or lower. The TR squeeks through at exactly 18. A Hot Air is rated at 17! Well maybe not every Regal. Some oddities I've found. A 87 Regal with the 307 is rated at 19. An 87 Cutlass with the same 307 is rated at 18. A 87 MC with the 4.3EFI V-6 is rated at 19. A MCSS is rated at 18. Most V-6's with a 3 speed auto only muster a 16-17.

Maybe sometime when I have a lot of time to kill I'll put some of the common cars of the Square Headlight Era into list form to see how everything stacks up. It would be interesting to see if Americas favorite Mullet-mobile, the Camaro makes it on the list. I'd even wager that there are a few Vettes on that list too.

Gasoline powered trucks and vans seem like the biggest clunkers. Many arent worth chit either.

The GNX qualifies as a clunker. lol. So doesnt anything thats fun to drive that was built since 85. All vipers, any of the specialty vettes, or mustangs. LMAO. Its funny how a Suzuki dealer has a commercial with a TR in it. Suzuki makes some of the poorest quality POS to ever leave an assembly line. They are right up there with Land Rover. Total JUNK.You may get more than 25mpg with your Suzuki but you better hope you have free rental service and the rental gets the mpg because the Suzuki will be broke more than it runs.
