ok i have been running a external trans cooler on my car for sometime now. well now that im start to do alot more mods and the trany has just goten rebuilt and has a PTS billet 3,000 9X11 i want to make sure my cooler is up to the task. right now im running this one and im not sure if its good enough.

i was wondering should i upgrade or should i plum the trans line into the bottom of the PTS alum Radiator then have the top line going to my external cooler that leads back to the tranny. the PTS radiator is very efficient at cooling and having the trans cooler after that would knock off more head correct. should i do this or go with something like this

if not that what do you recommend. thanks for the help

The 70297 is the one I use. Since it has it's own fan, I mounted mine sorta horizontally behind the passenger side front parking light.

Going through the rad cooler then the external cooler you currently have should be more than enough. Altho the external cooler with it's own fan would be great if you have space problem (front mount).

thanks lee i think i will do it that way and monitor temps. with the PTS alum. radiator and then the external cooler i think temps will stay down. then later on i can get the cooler with a fan

the guy out here called jimmy's trans in mundelien uses a ford truck cooler i dont know which one but he builds trans for 9 sec cars and uses them.

Unless there's debris from a previous scattered trans in the radiator cooler, it should ALWAYS be hooked up. Liquid/liquid coolers are very efficient and if you have one already in the rad you may as well be using it. Of course, they can't do their job if you can't keep your coolant temp where it belongs, but if that's the case you need to address the cooling system anyway.

I'm not saying that you can't keep the trans temps down using only an external cooler, but if you go that route it had better be a darn good one and not a $35 parts store special.

Just my opinion.

sounds good. my car runs nice and cool now with the PTS Radiator. so i will plum it into the radiator then into the trans cooler then back to the tranny. i think doing that will keep it nice and cool
