I bought the TRZ manaul conversion when Cal was running his special. Install wasn't bad. Hardest part was figuring out which route for the steering shaft without hitting headers and oil pan. I decided to use only 2 of the 3 knuckles TRZ provided for the steering shaft to eliminate having to brace what would have been the middle shaft. The stock column shaft was cut off near the firewall and the new shaft fit right inside the original. This allowed us to drill through both shafts and use a bolt to hold the new shaft to the old. This worked best since I can remove this bolt and the shaft will slide away from the firewall.

Total weight loss was around 30# over my S-10 manual box. If you converted from the stock power steering you'd loose closer to 50#.

Dusty that looks good. I hope we can get your car to the huntsville Saturday.

Don't you need to be working?? Motor will be ready tomorrow. It'll be a late night Friday night but I'm not getting in bed until it's running.

That's one reason for me posting the pics. The pics are here for people to see what's involved. I can't imagine a reason for it not being allowed in the heads up classes if someone wanted make the swap.

Now if I just had those nice control arms like Ted

lookin' good

Very nice job Dusty! I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed (hey as long as you make the minimum weight who cares??) although Buick racing is a different sort from Outlaw racing to say the least!

Anybody know the ratio of the Flaming River rack?? Cal hasn't been able to find out.

I should have brought the motor to work and put it together tonight  It's gonna be a long day tomorrow to get it together, in the car and running..
