I never see anyone put blanket type shield on their turbos. I wonder why? Anyone have any experiences with one?....good or bad. thanks.

I have one. Keeps the under hood heat down some, and covers up the rusty turbine side.

I had one of those "cheap" fiberglass/wire covers for a few years. The fiberglass started to fall apart and it got really ratty looking from dirt and oil.
Took it off. But that Lava Rock piece on Forcefed3.8's looks like a real nice piece. Going to look into that one.

anyone ever try to use the blanket and also the shield? This would keep the heat down and still look good.

After some research,i can see why alot of people dont have one...a good one can be around 300.oo. jegs has cheapys for 40.00 but i imagine you get what you pay for!

hello; I had a thing on getting a blanket but from what I've seen I'm not. For what I wanted the price kept me away for an experiment to if I would like it. I was going to buy one ch. for fit and quality but when I asked a vendor on there return policy it was not a good answer. I'm going to keep the stock shield and get it coated and not powder that is.
have fun

IMO wrapping the exhaust and the chance of a leak of fuel or oil and the wrapping absorbing and igniting isnt worth it. Had it happen on a set of headers on a SBC, I did the 2000 degree coating on all my exhaust and its definetly lower temp under the hood. Is it less or more than a blanket/wrap...cant say but just not worth the fire chance to me.

hello; off the subject. Turbo Nasty on your TA headers that clamp near the oil pan does not look familar. Is it from the kit of HW that came with them?

I have had it installed for 3 years, I don't drive in the rain, it looks like new still. I put them on every car I build.

Do you use the T3 or T4? How well do they fit? Did you have to trim it/them?
Sorry for the million questions and THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

There is some discussion about the possibility of the blanket heat soaking the cartridge due to it keeping the heat in.
