Up pipe keeps blowing off

So the passed 2 days when I have my car to the wood just before shifting 2-3, the coupling on the throttle body to the up pipe blows off (throttle body side). I reefed it down last night and did the same thing today. Running about 17 lbs, was running 18 and it never happened. Recently installed 42lb inj/tt chip. Can't think of anything else.

Try switching to the "t" bolt clamps
 
but it's not supposed to pressurize backwards like that right? like it's blowing it off away from the throttle body.
 
Pressurized backwards? From where the turbo clamps to the intercooler, then intercooler to up pipe, and up pipe to throttle body is all presurized under boost
 
How new is the turbo? Mine would pop off because I have a 4" MAF pipe going into my PT 6776. I needed to add a plenum spacer. Now, no issues.
 
That's just the weak link of the charge piping. You need to use better clamps on all the hoses. You fix just one the next weakest will pop of also.
 
Alright I didn't mean to question ya at first it's just sh*t like that makes me real nervous, especially because I just fixed the distributor gear and oil pump. What size do you guys recommend then since those silicone couplings are so thin?
 
Head to a local truck supply store (like the 18-wheel kind of trucks). They will sell truck radiator hose in the diameters that we most commonly use for intercooler piping (like 2-1/2", 3", etc.). They can be purchased in 3-foot lengths. Buy the diameters that you need. Cut to length using a band saw or a hack saw. Install with T-Bolt clamps (on the high-pressure side of the turbo) or plain worm clamps (on the low-pressure side of the turbo).

I've had the same hoses on my car for going on ten years, and I've never had one split, blow-off, or otherwise fail. These hoses are incredibly strong, resistant to automotive chemicals, and look good. As a bonus, they are usually cheaper than pre-made hoses that most people buy.

The only downside is that these hoses are very stiff - if your pipes aren't aligned properly, it will be difficult to install these. (As a bonus, however, well-aligned pipes promote the best air flow). The first time I put the 3" hose over my MAF (which is actually a bit larger than 3" O.D.), it was a pain, but the hose did stretch out a bit over time. Now, it's easy to put back on .

Wiggins Clamp......may be a bit overkill for your situation, but I couldn't keep the coupling from blowing off. I tightened the clamp so tight that the throttle blade would not return to idle. It solved my problems!!

Thanks for the ideas guys. I just was tooling around up and down my street and found out it was set to 23 psi lol. Musta bumped it wrenching and didn't notice on the boost gauge cuz the one I had went to 20 and I was more focused on the scan master. Just installed an autometer 60 psi one and caught that little mistake. But Tbolt clamps are on their way and hose will be in the near future. Thanks again!
 
I have joked around that solutions don't just magically present themselves, but i may have experienced this first hand. I hope to try it out. Ive been chasing a crappy idle. If interested, see my thread in the engine tech section. The comment about having the clamp so tight that the throttle blade couldnt open may be my magical answer. I hope to find out tomorrow evening after work. I actually got chills when i read that.

Wouldn't that be great...Its like hitting a jackpot at the casino with a free spin....let us know if its the fix.
