My inlaws have a german shepard named Romp. He is one hell of a smart (instincts) dog.

This is Ruger. The day I brought him home 8 weeks 28lbs

This is what he did daily for 2 years

2 1/2 years old and 97lbs

now hes almost 4 goes by fast

Don't know why his left ear never stood up, but I don't mind it gives him character

Congrats on the shepherd!! If I were at home more, I'd have to have another one. When I got Sampson (on the deck), I posted a "name him" thread and came up with some good names, I liked "Boost", but my wife thought it sounded like the geriatric drink. Only had Sampson about 4 years and then he got cancer. He was around 130#. My parents had a shepherd (with floppy ears) that was an angry dog, only got along with my parents and me. He passed away and then they found Shiloh (sleeping upsidedown) she only has one floppy ear. Post up some pics when you get a chance:D

that is so funny .. Our last dog would sit at the waters edge up to his neck in the water.. Ducks would go by him and he couldn't care less. Willie will go swimming BUT doesn't stay in the water . At the end of winter last year we went up to the lake. Water was FREEZING !! still had ice on it .. well dog went for a quick dip. He barked funny for a few days

I have a Golden Retriever he just turned 11 years old I have had since he was 5 weeks old, his name is Max.

German Shepards are very loyal dogs, starting with a pup for the kids is the best way to go. I had a beautiful female shepard named Tina several years back, super sweet dog. Unfortuanately she ate some sandpaper, & after over $1300 in vet bills we lost her:(
Here's my 12 lb terror Fiesta opening up her Christmas gift. She's part chihuahua/fiest.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy your new pup!

One sad part of owning a dog is when they get old and start to fail. My mini shnauzer Pepper is deaf as a haddock, nearly blind and has loose bowels. She was supposed to die 2 years ago because of a bad heart but she showed them she wasn't ready. I try not to think about putting her down.:frown:

I also have a mini Schnauzer to and the thought of ever having to put her down would be unthinkable. She is my heart and soul....

And a mean little bitch that attacked me!:D
Freakin ankle biter!

She's looks very similar to Pepper when she was younger. She's kind of bend now and scraggy looking. Pepper is the mildest little dog I've ever seen. She has never gone after anyone or even another dog. Very passive. She even lets my wife brush her teeth (what she has left).

Yea she gets a little grumpy sometimes.... The Giant versions actually make great Police dogs in germany. No pun intended "Grumpy"...:D

Having three of them is fun! You really can't go wrong with a Shephard. Make sure you thoroughly research the breeder and see the parents. Here they are dressed for the Christmas card.

Mark

LOL, thats great!

You will love it. We have a yellow lab who is spoiled like crazy. Swims more than any of our family in the pool and sleeps in bed.

Ty, how about Duchess? I have always liked that name.
