Is it just me or does have the time, the server go down. So far in the past 5 days I have only been able to access my private messages 2 out of the 15 times I tried. Is it my pc or what? I dont think it is because I can bring the forums up, the pms just dont work? ALSO, CAN SOME MODS PLEASE INCREASE MY PM LIMIT? 100 JUST DOESNT DO IT ANYMORE!!!:(

same here. internet explorer error says check connection or something. im able to connect to anything but turbobuick.com and also happened last night. was able to get on an hour later:confused:

Purely a guess but i would imagine it has to do with the recent upgrade. Works fine for me, be patient guys:cool:

Yes….and I was wondering if the berth rate in the buick community was going to go up in nine months ……..can we sue for support….:biggrin::biggrin:

Here is the message I get.

Web Server at turbobuick.com

It still continues to not work most of the time. Perhaps I MYSELF need to take over this website to correct these problems!

works like a champ for me. also being able to get a bigger pm box for some of us would be great. i would be willing to pay some money if need be.

I am curious as to what kind of system this site runs on. Most of the time reallocation of disk I/O will resolve these problems to an extent. It appears to be running Redhat and apache. If I had to guess, I would say this provider is running more than one site off the same server and timeouts here may be a result of the shared resource pool for the other sites. If it were dedicated with arrays for databases and other high I/O operations split up, it would fly. It's nothing new on server configurations, just the most optimized way of getting data off the server. This site is small in comparison to some of the database servers I have either configured or gone in and corrected the configuration of.

works fine. takes a little time to upload a post but no big deal.

Not exactly... Everything is the EXACT same as before the upgrade. Yes there are a few small sites running off the server but it is not hurting the load at all... We have even had to turn the time out down to 30 mins:eek: It is just all the new features the new system brings...

We are working on it, every day Jay is tweaking on it... He has been doing this since VBB started so just give him some time please:smile:

Far as PM space goes, that may be a tough one... If we raised everybody's that high and no one ever cleaned them out, a huge chunk of memory would be captured by that alone...

This site is bigger than it "appears."

I am not going to question his abilities to get the site to perform. I am sure there is lot of stuff under the hood that speeds up one area and slows dwon another.

What hardware is this site running on? Drive arrays? If you want, I can go into detail on how to set them up to get the best performance out of the entire system on the hardware side. I have built several Hyperion systems and they were fully optimized as in it would be impossible to get them to perform faster. Hyperion is a database driven app that has insane scalability. The DOD uses it for forecasting weapons/radiation impact over several years, Casinos love it so they can adjust and plan comps to customers and still turn a profit. I point out hyperion because the system has to be built with the intent to perform at maximum speed all the time.

Its a Quad Xeon with 4GB of RAM and 2x15,000 RPM SCSI drives. I forget how much space is on the drives.

The 3.8.x series of VB adds a lot more load to the server. Im thinking of moving the database to another machine and slaving it.

This is pretty common with larger forums.

My complaint is when I make a post it goes back to the beginning of the thread instead of seeing what I posted. I find that quite irritating. Also having say 200 PM's wouldnt be a huge deal for you considering some give you 1000 PM's. Thanks!
