I got the rebuild kit that is sold by the TurboBuickS.com people and the bearing failed. So I just bought a Pep Boys unit and was thinking about using the windings in the Pep Boys unit.

Am I wasting my time?

What are the proper terms for all the parts in there. I am pretty sure about the brushes and windings.

Thanks,

When the bearing failed it messed up some other stuff.

Thanks for the link - When I actually go there I will be better about comments like "other stuff." :)

I'll be a little rusty but,

Rotor (Part that spins)
Stator (Windings)
Diode trio
Bridge
Regulator
Brushes, bearings and retainers......

I believe the output is determined by both the rotor and stator assemblies.

Thanks James,

The rotor seemed to me to be a crucial part when it comes to making power but the kit does not include that. I wonder how much just adding the stator does to increase output:confused:

It actually depends on the current increase over stock 120Amps.

Since more current is flowing in the circuitry sometimes you need a heavier duty rectifier and regulator assembly.

Stator is usually the major upgrade with heavier windings.
