Need more info...

What are you going to do with the car?

Pump Gas?

Race Gas?

Pump Gas and Alky?

Primarily street driven car?

Strip only?

Combination Street and strip?

What you choose to do day in day out with it should shape your decision..... IMHO....

Also.... what are your ET goals?

Unknown very low 11s with drag radials thanks steve

Then if you decide to keep the 50#ers and run Alky with 100 unleaded, you will be limited to a turbo that can support around 600 - 650 fwhp. This being said, with your 3000 stall converter, I would suggest a PT6152RS dual bb turbo. It is capable of supporting up to 630 fwhp when maxed out and will support a full weight car into the very low 11's. According to PTEs site, this turbo is now available with the dual bb cartridge. It would be about the largest turbo you could go with and still maintain decent spool up and good power.

If you chose a turbo larger than this model, you will need to upgrade your injectors and chip. 50#ers can safely support 600 fwhp. The next size up in injector would be the 60# Mototron injectors. No need to have your ECM modified, just get a chip burned for the injectors and you're good. Some people have made the mistake in the past of running too large a turbo on too small of injectors, only to get greedy at the track or on the street and blow stuff up. Sure, it would be great to have a turbo on the car that could support 750 hp, but with your fuel situation, you would be limited to running low boost.

Thanks for the replys

? why the ball bearing turbo is it better? is it worth the extra cost?

If I want to go to a larger fuel injector, how will the car run at part throttle and idle

thanks steve

Dual BB because your converter choice limits the turbo selection due to not having enough stall. If you used the same turbo but with journal bearings, you would encounter some lag. The 6152 journal bearing turbo needs a converter that can flash stall to 3200 to spool it up nicely. You could step down in turbine wheel size to the PT6131S but the hp capabilities would also drop down to around 600 - 615 range. However, the spool up with it would be great with your 3000 converter. There's nothing wrong with a regular journal bearing turbo as long as you treat it properly with proper cool down and filter the oil before it reaches the turbo.

The larger 60# Mototrons are excellent as far as street manners are concerned. I currently have them in my '87 with one of Erics Turbo Tweak Pro chips and the street manners, part throttle, half throttle, WOT are excellent. Also, I have been able to manage 27mpg with these injectors on my most recent trip to Cincinnati. 4.5 hour drive for me one way. I absolutely love these injectors and chip combo. Highly recommended.

Not trying to sound argumentative or disrespectful, but they now list it on the current price sheet from their website. 6152RE p/n 300-6153 pg 3 and 6152RS p/n 400-6153 pg 12.

Given, I have never seen one either but the last time I spoke to Brian about this, (4 weeks ago) he said they were indeed selling it in BB now. Guess I'll believe it when I see one in person. It would be a killer turbo for sure tho. I know Don ran a 11.12 @ 119 with this exact turbo on 25psi, but in journal bearing form.
Call Brian up Mike and see if they can get you some of those to bring to BG. (subliminal message) ;)

I personally am very tempted if you know what I mean....

As of 2 weeks ago they were not building that one. I doubt we will have any BB turbos at BG they are all on backorder, if we do it will only be one or two
Mike

I agree with what Patrick said above on the turbo size.... the 6152 turbo is a good choice for bottom 11's.... BB version if you can get it would work nice with your converter.... It may dip into the 10's with good air and good traction...but it will be more consistantly in the low 11's.

Hello Mike
I have a question for you. I bought your chip for my car but I have not installed it yet. I did loose all the papers that came with it. can you email them to me? UL_LUZ98@YAHOO.COM

is the 6152 a big upgrade to the pt52?

Thanks
Steve

Honestly, not much, maybe 20-30 hp more at higher boost levels. (PT52 vs 6152) Same turbine wheel, but you are getting the GT35R compressor wheel, which is light years ahead of the older T series compressor wheels that are similar in power levels.

Turbo

I ordered a 6152 from hartline. with 63 housing.

I was going to go with the 6776 but, i did not want to buy a bunch of parts to go with it.

I will keep you posted.

thanks steve
