What Tires???

Don't know why my car hooks so well...suspension is 21 year old 100% stock and all original...still has front sway bar installed too. Launch at 12 psi off the trans brake and it dead hooks ?

I have a set of TRZ dbl. adj. chrome moly tubular rear lowers to be installed and UMI subframe connectors and panhard bar coming very soon along with a Currie 9". Hope I don't lose my hook
I have kept my front sway bar on too. Shoot, if I were you I wouldn't touch the suspension...why mess with something that is working? Install the Currie 9" and subframe connectors and call it a day.

Make sure you let me know what size you have. M.T.'S web-site says the 26 x 10.5" are equivalent to the 255 50's. If I could fit 11.5's that would be evern better. Thanks.
Dave
Sorry for getting back to you so slow, but they are indeed the 10.5. 26x10.5x16! I run 10-12 PSI in those.

Thanks!

the ET STREET DRAG RADIAL is a 255/50-16

the regular ET STREET is 26x10.5 -16 or whatever.

there is a big difference between the radial and bias ply tires and the radials hook much better.

the Hoosier drag radial is unbelievable

Do you think I could run the 26 x 11.5 without rubbing? On M.T.'s web-site it says the tread with on the 255/60 is 9.6", and that's equivalent to the 26 x 10.5, but the width on these is only 8.4". The tread with on the 26 x 11.5 is 9.7". Just wondering if anyone has experience with the 26 x 11.5's. Thanks. Dave

Dave, check out this thread. I asked the exact same question you did. To answer your question, my next set of tires will be 26x11.5x16 ET streets.

I'm going to 15" wheels and a 28" tire...should be here in about 3 weeks ;)

IMO,, that is a better way to go also.

What some people dont realize,is that by going to a taller tire you will also have a bigger contact patch to the ground.

Say you have a 26X 10" tire,,,,the other tire is a 28 X 10,,,which tire has a bigger/better contact patch to the ground,if you answer the same they are both 10" wide,,,you would be incorrect.

I got 275/60/15 MT's on the back with 350 gears in the 9 inch it revs abt 2200 rpm at 65-66 mph.

If you cant hook a 275/60/15 MT DR u have suspension problems people have been 7's in the 1/4 with that size. I got a 1.55 with the Buick then drove it to another state home. If you look at the top left pic in my sig that is a MT DR wrinkled up with 15 psi in the tires

OK...I'll let a little out of the bag M/T just came out with a new size ET Street drag radial...should be in the dealers sometime over the next couple weeks. P295/55-15 27.8" tall (28 x 12.5 R15) 10.9" tread width...section width on a 9" wheel is ~11.8" they fit 8"-10" wheels...I will be running 15x9" w/5.5" BS. Should pack the fender wells nicely

Should have my new wheels and tires in about 3 weeks !

Nice!
So w/those new tires & wheels coming I predict a 1.5 or better!

Plus w/a taller sidewall, the better wrinkle wall effect.

You can PM me if you would like, but how much will the combo cost you?

Thanks Jason

True...even better yet I got a 1.53 60ft. on 255/50-16's w/15 psi on a 12 psi trans brake launch with original 21 year old 100% stock suspension and no spin whatsoever. With the taller sidewall of the 275/60-15 it should only get better ;)

Going with some pretty expensive wheels 15x4 & 15x9 (~$400 ea.)...tires 26x6.00-R15 Sportsman S/R's $166 ea., 295/55-R15 ET Street $192 ea. so a little over 2K. With cheaper wheels like mayabe some Drag Lites for example you could easily knock ~$800 off and if you find a nice used set $1,000 or more.

His shipping is $40.... Total cost $448

ok...sounds like you found a good deal then. He has really good prices if you live close and don't have to ship ;)

His wheel prices are hard to beat since he has free shipping on them plus free lug nuts and valve stems  On my order I couldn't find a better deal anywhere and since I'm picking them up no shipping cost on the tires either
