classified in this order of importance:
1) General quality
2) fit
3) appearance
4) cost
I'm thinking PT&E, but I am interested in everybody's opinion. I currently have a Thunderfab, and it does OK, but I think that the PT&E might be a tad better.

Sorry, Roger, I should have specified of ones still currently manufactured and readily available today. But thanks for your input regardless.

My opinion?

You might want to put "performance" on that list somewhere.;) I'd sure hate to see you end up on one of Mean Chickens Kill Section threads.

For what it's worth I know people who have the Thunder Fab always love them. Don't think you'd see a world of difference switching to the PTE, but I do agree that in my own research their's appears to be the "best".

...it is sooooo much nicer working on a car with a FM:D

FM SUCK on a street car  He asked about STOCK LOCATION intercoolers  :p

hmmm thinkin here.. why is a front mount better for workin on the car ??? what are you changing in front of the motor all the time ??

...suck on my FMIC street car

Maybe ten years ago I had a bad replacement water pump - so that was two, then a 3#e lobe - 2 times, re-core radiator, just R&R the belt is way easy

I have had my car since July 1986 and I have put hundreds of thousdands of miles on it and I do all the work on it myself. From the very first time I was near the front of the engine after FM, I was happy.

Tony Dequick as back in the day and PTE for now in the day LOL ,does anybody know what's the best power made with original stock intercooler ? with all the goodies avalible to change and just happen to keep stock intercooler ...

One of the best of all time would have to be Mease's 24 row which I have on the GN. The fit and finish is awesome. The reason this IC is not a good choice is because you cant get a NEW one anymore!! I was lucky when I bought one about 5 years ago and damn thing is huge!!

If you can find a good used one you will not be disappointed. Yes it flows better than any other SLIC but PTE would be my choice today if I was in the market.

well we have had FLEETS (nice summer drivers and beaters for the winters) of Buicks since 86 ( 2 kids, wife and me ) .. replaced maybe 3 water pumps over the years .. more mileage than what you have ever dreamed of  Sorry if ya can't do a water pump with ease on these cars.. Hell Melissa has put prob 6/700 miles on hers in the past 2 weeks!! finally the snow is almost gone!
back to the thread.. PTE  OR if ya can find a NICE CAS V4 ..that would do fine to the high 9s anyway  :p

If you are gonna race and play on the street you will have some wrench time and all the extra space a FMIC provides is a blessing worth considering [that is why I mention it in a SLIC thread]. I am glad you have not had to do much work on all your TR's:
Maybe if you actually had some more experience WORKING on these cars you would appreciate the extra space.

That's what I have as well. It's a beast. And driving around FLA, a front mount really wasn't an option to me.
