I got an unopened long block I was debating of sticking in my car and seeing what I can do with it. Would be interesting to see how far I can go.

The engine now is stock, down to the cam shaft.

I would put it in my silver car which has been in the 1.3 60's and has a lot of suspension work done since. It will also feature a EA th400, ptc 9.5, Holley hp efi, TRZ suspension with afco coil overs, atr headers, weldon 2025 pump, hopefully be about 3400lbs or less....basically a very good chassis built for 8 second passes. This could be fun!
I also have a roller cam I could stick in the motor. I have a mystery turbonetics turbo right now to use.

Do it! I always love to hear new info on how far the stock long block can be pushed.

I've got a buddy that did 11:40's back when they were new. He had three of them and they all ran the same with all the same mods. I think that is as fast as he went without opening the motor.
I would think that todays technology would do a bit better? He still owns one of them.

I'm told 50k on the engine. I've gone 11.1 with one before a long time ago

Is this a different plan than "rusty silver bullet"?.. he went 10.90's with a stock unopened engine. Only bolt ons.

Kevin I was thinking of doing the same. We know at least 10.9's are possible.

10.6x I recall correctly

Should go good I went 10.80@124 in my original longbkock TTA at 3750lbs

I guess this is different than the other one. I didn't see it.

I went in the 11.20's with my unopened motor that never had a valve cover off. A lot of bolt-ons and 25lb boost. After 15 years and over 500 runs on the car, it finally broke.

I would replace the timing chain, oil pickup, valve springs and rocker cups on general principal.

Thanks all.

I lost interest in the LS build. Still have most of the parts still though.
