I would venture to bet if Tyson got serious and began training again he would still be faster then any other current heavy weight today.

He's not 80, he's 43. There are numerous great professional athletes in their 40's. He wasn't great, he was the greatest of all time. Big difference.
I totally agree with you. Tyson's speed was so much greater in his prime, he can be 50 and still be just as fast or faster than most Heavyweights in their prime. However reflexes is another thing to go when you get older. Tyson's head movement in his prime was unreal, but as he got older, his head stopped moving and he became hitable. But I agree with you. If Tyson was "serious" he can probably still whoop some azz. But for me being a huge fan of his when growing up, I want to remember him for dominating like he did in the 80's, and not just a little bit better.

True. I would like to remember him that way as well. Although it's hard to get the whole ear biting thing outta my head tho. Anyway....

Mike Tyson was no where close to being the greatest.

He was just a thug that would offer to help little old ladies with their groceries and once he got them on the elevator alone he would knock their teeth out and take their money. Yeah,he was great.

Sent to prison for 3 years for raping a teen beauty pagent contestant.

Getting DQ'd for biting a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear off because he was getting his ass kicked and had to find a way out.

I was a fan of Tyson when he first started boxing but to be honest who did he fight that was any good?

Years before he fought Evander, people said Tyson would beat him and i would say no,Evander will kick his ass watch and see. :D

I never thought Tyson was the greatest. I think he was the most gifted and skilled heavyweight boxer, who "could have" easily been the greatest. But his career was ruined by all the people he hung out with. So his career is not the greatest, but his skill level definitely is. He's still one of my favorites growing up.

I would like to see how Mayweather would stand up to a real Muay Thai fighter! They know how to protect the head and they have plenty of speed.
One or two kicks from one of them and Mayweather would crumble!!

  I actually agree with you:eek:

I would still pick Tyson to KO Kimbo, and or Bob Sapp right now. What do you guys think?

Alot of people don't know this but Kimbo was an amateur boxer for years. Never went pro for whatever reason?

As far as the Tyson vs Hollyfield fight Tyson was headbutted first and then got frustrated and did what came natural. Has anyone seen the new documentrary out about him?

Tyson in the 80's was an incredible fighter on his way to greatness. He had the speed, 1 punch ko power in either hand, defense, and a chin. Bad choices in life derailed him .

Didnt know that about Kimbo. But you can tell Kimbo watched alot of Tyson fights by his fighting stance/style. He just nowhere near as naturally talented as Tyson. Ive seen the new documentary on Tyson. All I can say is he is ruthless, and is one bad mthfker

Mayweather is a Welterweight, so put him in a cage with Mike Brown, or Uriah Faber,or Jose Aldo, or Jens Pulver....Hell put him in with Miguel Torres ( a Bantamweight) and see how long he lasts!

Torres, and Aldo are both MUCH quicker than Mayweather, and can use their feet too.

As has been pointed out, boxing and MMA are two different sports... and neither of them is streetfighting, BTW.

So lets take Mayweather vs GSP...

In Mayweather's sport GSP has no chance... zero. OK, just being in the ring gives him a chance so let's say it's one in a billion. Mayweather would be able to hit GSP at will and could actually decide whether to knock him out immediately or to toy with him as a cat does a mouse and turn his face into an unrecognizable swollen mess.

In GSP's sport Mayweather would actually have a chance... until GSP took him down. Once on the ground Mayweather's chance goes to zero... and if it were possible to have less than a zero chance that's what he would have.

But if Mayweather were to catch him coming in for a takedown and stun him even for a second it would be all over for GSP. And with those small gloves it would be extremely dangerous as fast and hard as he would be getting hit.

I would give Mayweather maybe a 25% of landing a shot before being taken down.

So GSP stands no chance in Mayweather's sport yet Mayweather would have a small, yet legitimate chance of beating GSP at his. What does that tell you?

That tells me that you and I think a lot a like.

One thing though......I think Mayweather is a bad person to use in these what if MMA matchups because of his boxing style. He is too defensive, and his old school shoulder roll leaves him wide open for the takedown......But his superior hand speed may make up for it. I would still have to agree with you on the MMA side. In boxing different story, Mayweather wins in his sleep.

Kimbo Slice's real name is Kevin Ferguson and he's going to give pro boxing a try this summer.

You should hear his dad and uncle talk. It is damm near impossible to understand
i met ROGER MAYWEATHER in person and you're 100% right. but whenever the wife and i see him on tv talking, we put on "closed caption" so we can understand what he's saying .

Yea, but it was Mayweather who said what he said so we have to use him.

A good offensive boxer may have even more of a chance in the MMA bout.

It would be interesting because GSP would know he's dead meat standing up and the boxer would know GSP can't afford to do much except go for the takedown.

Does the boxer immediately attack hoping to catch GSP off guard, but leaving himself open for the takedown if he misses?

Does GSP immediately go for the takedown hoping his speed gets him there before the boxer can counter, and hoping the boxer's whole game plan didn't anticipate that very strategy.

Odds are GSP gets the takedown and ends the match but if he messes it up he would be toast.

maywheather is one of the most the most arrogant, s$#t talking a$$holes of all time. a true champion would not turn down a fight for less money, they want to prove they are the best by beating the best. personally. i thinks he knows he would get his a$$ handed to him if he fought paquio.

on the topic of no white signicant boxers... has he heard of the klitchsco brothers???? what an a$$.

just my opinion.

I agree with you on both if they fought in MMA and in boxing, but I give Mayweather a slightly better chance at beating GSP in MMA. One thing I need to think about is GSP fights at 170lb, and Mayweather at 147lb. So if I had to bet depending on the odds, I would probably choose GSP. GSP's only chance is to take him down immediately. The longer he stays on his feet, the less he has a chance to win. This fight will never happen, but I would pay money to see it. Mayweather makes too much money in boxing, and MMA fighters dont make nearly as much as he does.
