Whether it's a car show, a web site, or what ever. If you try to extract money from people to cover the costs, people turn away.
However, If you can spin it into a fun/ donation type deal, then your a hero.
Here's just one way you could fleece the flock...Opps, I ment raise some dough to help offset the costs.![]()
Monthly T-shirt contest.
Sell nice (very nice) TB.com T-shirts for a profitable sum. Say, thirty bucks plus shipping. Have a photo contest that is judged by admin and/or mods, with person(s) wearing shirt in some "interesting" place or setting. Photos would need to be "in good taste" and be posted in a "TB.com T-shirt photo" section. The monthly winner would earn something cool, like a new alum TA block and heads, with custom brushed and ceramic coated Wilson manifold to match my other parts. If this is a bit too optomistic, first place could get,
*Name/pic posted somewhere "special" for the month.
*Ban anyone for a week. (personal favorite).
*Mod of the Political or So. Western Section for a day. (That's as long as anyone would want the job).
Run the contest for a year and see how it goes. At worst, you'd have fun and get publicity.
How about anyone that has more than 50% of their threads in the FS forum pays $20 every quarter to continue posting?
Instead of a paid site for everyone, what about optional paid subscriptions? Those that choose to pay a small monthly/quarterly/yearly subscription get some perks. More PM space, ability to block certain threads, no ads, access to cool smileys that unpaid members can see but can't use themselves. Paid members get a cool T-Shirt that can't be purchased. Only paid members can participate in the giveaways. Paid members get their screen name in a different color showing their support of the site. I can come up with more but you get the idea.
