The time limit on the edit button on the bottom of the thread or post! You mean you guys can edit any time with no time limit? if so, why dose mine disapear after so many hours?

there is nothing like reading a post you made the day before and saying to yourself... man I should proof read this stuff...

or... perhaps your post was offensive or off colour and you'd like to change or rephase something...

At Turbobuicks we have lots of time to fix stuff up.

I agree. Shane or Jay removed that feature on t6p also. Now we have one hour before our words get set in stone. I'm posting alot less now. I am one of those who hits "enter", then comes back and change or erases my post. Now we can't even erase a post on t6p, same as here. I don't like it, but what can you do? :(

i want to be able to edit stuff later, too many times i have had to repost stuff for sale after parts have sold or i changed the prices or had to add stuff, it would be nice to keep one post....

The edit feature will be discussed and whatever changes will come with the board update!

Honestly, just proof read what you type and dont say anything you wouldnt say in front of yo momma

I do not agree with putting the edit feature in the cars for sale, parts for sale or the parts wanted section. The amount of people getting screwed in the parts for sale section has dropped down to a bare minimum.

I can remember when someone could put a part up for sale, sell it to someone get the money and delete the thread...That was resolved by not allowing someone to edit or delete their threads in those sections.

If you want to get your posts or thread altered email or PM Geoff87, He can and will do it for you.. Its explained here http://turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87046

But if you take your time to post without something you would regret, then there would be no need for the edit feature after a few minutes.

Just my pinion angle.

This is NOT about posting something that someone would regret its SIMPLY a convience thing! It would be convinent to come back AT ANY TIME to edit for any reason..

YES! PLEASE!

I would like to be able to edit post for updates. IE for sale items, etc. Without this feature, you are actually utilizing more hard drive space and require more reading on our part. IE. If you can't update for sale items, such as Sold, etc, you have to repost the whole message again with the updates. This takes up space on your server. Also, if you are backing up your server, you have to back up more and it takes longer to do this. In addition, I have a few post in T6P.com library section. I update it as I find out more info. I can't perform these functions on this board. Instead I have to post the whole message all over again.

So, there are benefits to us and you the moderators.
1) Less Storage, in which means faster backups.
2) Happier TurboBuick.com members.
3) Easier reading. (less threads)

Set an unlimited time to edit as long as you are the originator.
Also, can we fix the search feature? It bombs out on most two word searches.

Thank you for asking us.

Guess we will leave it up to the new group to see what they want to do, i expressed my opinion about the parts for sale, parts wanted, and cars for sale section.

If you dont remember how bad it was before the reins were tightened, then maybe you should ask someone who was here when the board was started and everyone laughed at this board.
I know i was here, and the parts for sale section was full of people getting ripped off... The EDIT rule has been here for quite a while, and its been quite awhile since we have had a slew of thieves in the parts for sale sections.

Another thing you can do is let a member get a certain amount of posts and time active on the board.

This way you can rule out the people who join just to get rid of there **** and people out trying to scam. Make it like 100 post count or something and that there is no access till the requirments are met. Just an idea.

I would love the edit feature for those drunk posts that even I can't understand what I was trying to say the next morning.

That's it exactly! Thank you Bryan! ........ :)

There's a couple of reasons that the edit and delete functions were removed on T6P. First, there are a few people that would post up a bunch of stuff and then go back and delete it. When it gets deleted by the user, it isnt really deleted. The administrators can still see it. It's called "soft deleting." So, basically I could see what people were trying to delete and usually it was something they shouldn't have posted in the first place. Probably 2006's equivalent of drunk dialing. But, it gets very difficult to clean things up when someone makes 10 posts and then goes back and deletes 9 of them.

Same thing with editting. Many, MANY times, someone will get their feelings hurt, go on a "IM LEAVING THIS CRAPPY FORUM" rant and proceed to edit and delete every one of their posts, which in turn removes sometimes valuable information from the rest of the members. I don't really feel like that's fair to everyone else.

We also have an incident with a vendor that posted up a bunch of stuff basically trashing the forum, the users, the administration, etc and then a couple of days later, went back and deleted it all then threatened to sue the forum owners. That didnt happen on T6P, it was on another forum I administrate. We basically had to do away with editting and deleting there also.

I'm all for some other kind of solution but unfortunately I dont know what that is. Limiting posting in the Classified forums by join date or post count is pretty simple and I could do that no problem.

If anyone has a solution, please feel free to post it.. Ill take anything into consideration at this point.
