I've collaborated w/turbo6camaro to mod my 2k Camaro w/the 4.1 I have. I'm pulling the 3800/4l60e/obdII, out for the OBD I system w/p/l, chip for convenience, and 200-4r.

Well, good luck to us all who take the time to research and build something unique and thank you to all those who help us along the way. Looks like I'll likely be chopping up some 3800 camaro pacesetter headers along with sections of the old gn headers to get my hotside built. My shiny new welding helmet is beckoning me as we speak...

It's difficult to believe the lack of support at the present time, not just on this board, but on the Camaro boards as well. If any thing, you would think they would be gung-ho. And would already have created an aftermarket of speed equipment just to be competitive.

In general there IS good aftermarket support for the 3800. Everything's available. Rods , crank, pistons, cams , aluminum heads, girdle, intakes, rollers rockers, studs etc. Just not in a package that fits gbodys. My motors back in car so soon to fire. Cannt wait

800whp block right there. Sorry about the slow reply, I see you went with the stock crank. They are mega strong. I have a stock uncut that had done 280,000km before id used it. We're still using TTY main bolts too lol... I never bothered to remove the balance shaft, just took the gear off and bolted on the duel row. Looks good! Watching to see the outcome

Hey Dan! good to hear from down under.
Yeah I couldn't justify spending 2,000$ on a COME billet crank. I found a perfect low mile uncut stock crank for $100. Be good enough for me. Keep us updated with your car too! Must be racing time there soon.

Nice work! Do you plan to re-torque the heads? It helps the commetics seal if you retorque them when the motor is warm.

I think there is a lot of great information here. I'm excited to get mine up and running and think I can bring some new things to the table with my background in electronics. Once I am done I will do a write up on integrating a Megasquirt EFI system, and Microsquirt Trans controller which will be able to control either a 4L60E or 4L80E with all the benefits to go with them.

I really feel there is a future in this swap being utilized by many people. The biggest thing is someone or a group of people supplying the parts to make this a bolt in swap since many on here are not capable of the fabrication or mechanical thinking involved in such a swap.

I'm starting to think the 93-02's were engineered for failure. The 4l60E. like the 200's fail w/an increase in hp as well as the 10 bolt rears in the Camaros. This automatically jumps up the initial drive train costs by $3K w/mild mod's.

This is my opinion, w/the amount of torque these v6's put out, The multi gear 80E, if you could use all 6 or more forward gears, it wouldn't be necessary to wring out the gears. Now I might be wrong due to the design of the 80E, but I figure if you can maintain your power band thru however many gears, you shouldn't have to stress out the block. Isn't that why the new car manufurers are adding gears?
