    Exhaust scavenging explanation please

Check out the May 2005 Popular Hot Rodding. It has a very in depth article on exhaust science. I've read it three times and still haven't got it all.:)

    Tranny sat for 2 years

Just got done putting the right converter back in the car (who says Datsuns are hard to work on?) ;) and went for a ride. Trans shifts perfectly, now on to tuning and getting everything put back together and...............

    Tranny sat for 2 years

Couldn't sleep just had to pull the tranny out, and what do you know Bruce was right. Pulled out the converter and checked what spline it was by dropping in a 700 input shaft and it fit. :mad:Just need to get the converter redone (Mr Tadje you have mail) and then we can finally go for a ride.;)

    69 chevelle??

Should be a piece of cake (relatively speaking, conversions are never that easy), front steer-no crossover clearance issues, tons of room in every direction, all the room in the world for plumbing intercooler and air filter, running fuel lines, hiding wiring etc. Just let me get my hybrid done...

    I have questions!

    1. I don't know of any adapters to take the metric fittings and adapt them directly to the quick disconnects on the car. 2.I don't think the Holley system has the capability to fire the coils, would have to run a distributor to make it work. I wouldn't recommend a 950 controller for not only...

    Tranny sat for 2 years

Hooked up the new pressure gauge and got some healthy pressure readings, looks like you might be right Bruce. Out comes the tranny, lets see if a 700r4 input shaft drops into this converter.:p

    Tranny sat for 2 years

Thanks for the response Bruce. Just found out my trans pressure gauge took a big dump (ran a test on 4l60e that still shifted and it read 10 psi:eek: ). Going to push it back in and retest the pressure. Thought it was a little funny that it read almost 0 when I could hear the pump working when I...

anyone using a vacuum mod. on a TH400?

You need to install a check valve in the vacuum line to the modulator, modulators don't like boost. Also make sure you make a small vacuum leak between the check valve and modulator so that vacuum doesn' t get trapped in the line. Feel free to send me an e-mail, I don't get to this site very often.

Would I be ok to use Royal Purple in my built 200-4R and how many of you run it?

In all the trannies I build and in my own personal cars I just use regular 99 cents a quart Dexron and change it often. If I know I got the trans hot the fluid gets serviced as soon as I can. I like synthetics in most cases but I'm not really sold on the synthetic ATF. Seems just the base stock...

My steering wheel is upside down....

Before you go adjusting anything make sure the steering box is centered, (steering wheel turns the same amount from center, i.e. turns 2 revolutions both left and right). If the steering box is centered than most likely the previous owner had the steering column worked and it was assembled...

TC Locking up at very low speeds

Have you checked the adjustment of the TV cable? Sounds like the trans is shifting way to early. The trans has to be in at least third gear before the converter can be locked up, at least electricly. If the solenoid goes bad the converter will usually lock up all the time causing the engine to...

    Yet another question:)

Draining the trans pan doesn't have to be a mess. You'll need a big drain funnel (available at most good parts stores, it's aprox. a 24" square plastic deal that would drain into a regular drain pan). Remove all but the two front bolts from the pan, if the pan has been on a long time then the...

    th 400...too much stall?

I think with your combination you would want the converter to stall to 3,000-3,200 RPM and flash to 3,500-3,600 range. This converter will act totally different than a stock one, need 3 or 4 hundred more RPM just to get the car moving. What does the converter actually stall at? If it stalls...

Torque spec. on convrtor to flywheel bolts?

You should be able to reuse the original bolts on your new converter. They usually torque somewhere around 25 ft lbs. Most 1/2 inch torque wrenches won't go that low, just use some red loctite on the threads and get them good and tight with your 15 mm wrench.

Tranny jack or reg floor jack???

I went to the local metal mart and bought a piece of 1/4 " plate that was about 16 inches square. Drilled 2 holes in the center of the plate, drilled and tapped 2 holes in the saddle (5/16"). I can bolt the plate right to the saddle when I need to use it for pulling gas tanks or trannys. I also...
